I still love this series. Can't wait for the next book to come out in the spring!
Ward's books are so much more about the characters and their idiosyncrasies that the romance or even the sex.
Rhev here reminded me so much of Rhys. A broken and darker version but just as loving, possessive and all consuming. I was wary about this character in the third books but to say he grew on me is an understatement. His devotion and loyalty to his fellow comrades and loved ones is much like Rhysand's it made me want to cry because I miss him so much. He's the kind of broken character that has been written so well that you just want to give them a big, tight hug.
Ehlena was a fierce character and we needed a female as nurturing as she was for our Rhev. In a way it was a perfect match and what made it better was her resolve and how she didn't shrink away. She did a truckload of dumb shit in the book but I'll cut her some slack.
AND ALSO WE HAVE TO NEW CHARACTERS THAT I LOVE SO MUCHHH!
George and Payne stole my heart. I've loved Payne since she was introduced two books ago and I cannot wait for her book!
I'll let George speak for himself.
We had Wrath PoV this time and I was ECSTATIC to say the least. Dark lover will always be my favourite romance of this series. Maybe it's how Wrath is so SOOOOO in love with Beth (not to say the others aren't) and how much they rely on each other and are so respectful and respected. There is some interesting stuff going on with Wrath this time and we get a handful of steamy sex and heartfelt conversations.
OMG THE CLIMAX SCENE. I cannot tell you how great it was and have I told you how much I wanted to hold Rhev!?
All in all, great book but Wrath is what stole it for me. I cannot wait to see where things go with him and the certain someone on the Other Side ;)
And Xhex and John and shit going down. I'm halfway through their book while I'm writing this and oh myyyy. This is going to be a fun ride...

J. R. Ward let out all the stops with this newest installment in the BDB series. She writes as though the characters are tangible. (What a world that would be.) Ahhhhhh, but the cliffhanger! I'm on the look out for BDB #8.

Another great installment that I couldn't wait to read, and couldn't put down when I got it. Now the wait for book 8 to become available at the library. What will I do when I'm done???
I don’t care ok. GOD HELP ME I DONT CARE WHAT HE DID. Rhev is hot. John Matthew better get his SHIT together and get our girl Xhex back. Once again, can’t wait for the next installment! Don’t read my highlights if you don’t want any spoilers.
i’m really surprised i liked this one as much as i did, in all the other books i hadn’t cared about rehv but this story was great. oh and i loved having some of wraths perspective in this as well.
