This one was much better. But the books are so predictable, and everyone is kidnapped at some point. Goodness.
Yet another winner from J R Ward. Really loved reading more about Rehvenge and Xhex. I thought the bits at the Sympath colony were moving into horror territory with how scary they were.
The only disappointment was the reaction to Xhex being kidnapped. I didn't feel any of the characters at the Colony would have left not knowing where she had disappeared to. I understand the need to set up the next book but the reactions just weren't believable.
Other than that I loved it!

Awesome book, though it took me a little while to get into it, after all, it's over 600 pages long! I enjoyed the couple, though I wish we could've had more time focused on them, then the other storylines!
Another great book by J.R. Ward. This book is fast paced, and a great read. Ward has an amazing way of creating characters that you will fall in love with and relate to. I would recommend this book to just about anyone.
I do think that there were quite a few sex scenes in this book. If that is something you're uncomfortable with, you should not read this series.
All in all, I really did enjoy this book.

The 7th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is about Rehvenge. He's a drug dealing pimp who is only half vampire. He has a sister who is married to one of the "Brothers." So now he has some loyalty to them. And when a time comes for him to help them out he takes that chance. While he's trying to keep his secret a secret, he ends up having a relationship with a nurse from the clinic, Ehlena.
I have to say this book had a whole lot going on it. There was a lot with the lessers. Then with Rhev and his woman. Not to mention we see a lot of Wrath too. There were a lot of things that didn't make much sense to me though and it bothered me through out the whole book...
Some things are:
1) Rehv having to a be a "whore" for that horrible woman. I don't get why he didn't just kill. It seemed he probably would have gotten away with it.
2) The distance between Wrath, and Beth. That didn't make sense either. Especially the part about them not being intimate together for a few months. That doesn't sound like them at all, and it sort of bugged me.
3) The fact that Ehlena turned her back on Rehv at one time. I lost a little respect for her, but she redeemed herself in the end.
4) I hated the way Xhex and John hook up. I felt like they both treated the other badly for no good reason, and it really sucked.
The best part of the book was the ending. I loved how they all stood together for Rehv. I love seeing them have somewhat of a happily ever after. However, I am wondering what's going to happen next.

Ah, Rehvenge. The male I've been waiting for since he was introduced into the series in, hm, Book 3, was it? Who knows. Ward definitely did not disappoint, and in fact went above and beyond expectations to give us slavering readers almost 650 pages of Rehv! Now ain't that exciting?
If the sheer volume isn't enough for you, you finicky reader, then let the plot speak for itself. In traditional romance style, Rehv and Ehlena's relationship really got off to a fast start, but there wasn't a lot going on between the two of them at the beginning of the book. Not to say that there wasn't a lot going on, it just wasn't romance. It was still good. It's great to see an author take the time to actually set up a plausible relationship between the two main characters, no matter how quickly it progresses after the first kiss. I loved the nice little sarcastic, tit-for-tat thing that Rehv and Ehlena had at the start, and I also love what it evolved into, unlike in some stories I've read.
By the time you get to the end of the book, you feel like it's been two or three rather than a single, hulking, Rehv-filled masterpiece, but definitely in a good way.
And, well, anyone that knows me knows that I love me some tough and sarcastic but hurting, be it emotionally or physically, types, and really, who doesn't? Okay, don't answer that.
So, yeah. Go buy the newly released mass market paperback edition of Lover Avenged, even if it doesn't match the rest of the set.

And I'm back

Rhevenge.
Lets get to know our classic bad boy with a heart of gold. Two sides forever at war within him, Ehlana has finally given his vampire side a bit of an advantage.
I love all the times he starts to think Ehlana is too 'pure' and 'good' for him and he just shrugs it off and continues to go with it. That’s my boy.
Ehlana
A nurse who knows how to handle a gun. She has been through some rough times but she trudges on. She is proud but not too proud to accept help, even if it is with conditions.
Now for our side stories. I just don't know how to address them without spoilers so read at your own risk.

I love JM. He is damaged but was still sweet and hopeful. I waited for his change with the excitement that Christmas used to bring when I was a little kid shaking packages under the tree trying to guess what they were. I wanted him to find an exciting female to slowly bond with while he became an even more important part of Brotherhood.
I was like a proud Momma that watched in horror as he started eyeballing Xhex.
Not.Good.Enough.
*Rawer*
The Moors are becoming more and more prominent. It is interesting to see their personalities come out a little bit.
We saw a lot more of Beth and Wrath as well. I must say that I like them more as a couple and leaders of the race after this book.
Some fans say they liked the early books with more of a focus on the individual Brothers (a Brother for each book). Ward seems to be continuing with that focus but splits your attention to all of the side stories. I find them interesting so I like the added content.
No ridiculous ending for this one! I am extremely happy with how it was all worked out (as we all know it would be). This does end on a cliff hanger

I almost cried when she lost her job as a nurse. I guess there is probably room for her to work with the Brother's shellans somewhere.Spoiler
I absolutely love it that she was the one leading the rescue this time! Now for our side stories. I just don't know how to address them without spoilers so read at your own risk.

but only if you like Xhex. If you don't you are probably hoping she stays lost. But she won't *sigh*
The last third of the book it's what saves all the effort that you go to until things start to get fun, dangerous, and worth the trouble. Not a top 5, of the BDB series, but a good book when things get interesting. Rehvenge's story wasn't one that I was waiting for, but having the bits and pieces of the Brotherhood, make it interesting until all came together at the 60% mark.
It took me 8 days to finish it when the others last one day in my to-be-read list. But I can blame, other things, but I clearly didn't call to read it in one sitting like the others.

This series is evolving into something I love. I like that the series is still sticking to paranormal romance, but that it is revolving more around the plot. At first, following characters from the lessening society was grating on my nerves, but now having the extra perspective is intriguing and definitely anchors me in the story. Something that also first got on my nerves over the last few books was following so many characters, but it's starting to grow on me. I like that most everything interweaves into the fabric of the plot.
