Let me just say, I am a huge fan of this series. That said, someone in the editing department must have been high when they worked on this book! There were SO many errors!! Does JR Ward's keyboard not work properly or is there not a ? On it? 75% of the dialogues had incorrect punctuation!! Drove me bonkers. And at the top of page 372? "..the same was true with Kim for her..." pretty sure that should've been HIM, not Kim! This won't change my rating, it's just annoying!!! And why is it, that every Brother has to have this "im no good for you, you be better off without me" going on? For once, it would be nice to have one of them actually think they are worthy of these women! I mean, come on! They fight for their race, put their lives on the line, and put others before themselves! That said, i still loved this book! Love rehvenge! Love John Matthew, Xhex. The whole twist with Lash! Can't wait to read the next one!!

3.5 stars
Ok ok ok before I get slack for the star rating I did enjoy this book BUT it was all too much. There are so many stories going on I found myself wanting to choose whose story to follow & skip out the rest (you know - skim past them).
This took an awfully long time for me to finish. Ever time I had to put it down & get back to reality, I would find myself hesitant to get back into it. I even went off and read a whole other series (or 2!) - which I very rarely do.
I really like Rev & Elena and I wanted more from them but then the story was about Wrath & his struggles and I was rooting for that situation, then John and his issue popped in, then Tohr, then Lash, then .... Man!!! C'mon!!
Anyway, I'm happy I've finished it. It may be a little while before I pick up the next one - though I do want to see what's up with John & Xhex

So this book felt a little slow to me. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t as good as the others. I love Rhevenge with Ehlena. He is sweet and vulnerable and worthy of her! The Lash story is pissing me off. He has always been such a jerk and that isn’t changing!

3.5

Oh Rehvenge.... great book. But you know me, it takes me a little bit to compose my thoughts for a full review. Stay tuned! On to #8 and John Matthew. I have waited a long time for this one!!

I thought this installment was really long! Some editing would have improved the flow.

I wish there had been more romantic scenes between Ehlena and Rehvenge! I thought they bonded rather quickly...like three scenes happened and then that was it. I would have liked more buildup and tension. I didn't mind Ehlena, but she didn't have a lot of depth to her, so maybe that's why some other readers didn't care for her. In the middle of the book she got annoying.

The Wrath and Beth storyline was boring, although I like the couple. John Matthew keeps waxing and waning on me. He has been in a f'ing slump the whole series! I want something good to happen to him for once.

Rehvenge, Xhex, the Moors, the sympaths - great storyline. I thought the book would have spent more time in the colony. A new location with many potential new characters. Lash and the lessers storyline put me to sleep!

Not the best in the series, although Rehvenge is a great character. Something just fell flat in the delivery of it all. Maybe not enough fighting? Epic battles? The last one in the book ended all quickly. And the very end? I was surprised by how Ehlena agreed completely, like they were taking a trip to the beach.

Anyway, I'll be reading the next book and the next one after that. I couldn't imagine anyone picking this up without reading some of the previous ones in the sequence.

Another adventure-packed installment of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. This one was about Rhevenge: pimp, drug lord, and sympath. He is a regular patient at Havers' clinic due to his regular need of dopamine and anti-venom. All of the nurses are nervous around him and he doesn't much care. The only nurse he really likes and always hopes is there is Ehlena. Ehlena is a little nervous around him, but is also drawn to him in some way. She hasn't had it easy either between working long hours and taking care of her mentally ill father. She is stretched thin and then when Rhevenge comes along, she eventually takes some solace in his attentions. Quickly, they discover that they are in love and that he has imprinted his bonding sent on her, but Rhevenge feels that Ehlena is too good for him and chooses to withhold the truth about his life from her. Meanwhile, we get to see first-hand his "relationship" with his sympath princess half-sister. He is forced to give her money and have sex with her once a month in exchange for her silence about his bloodline. This quickly spirals out of control, though, once the princess finds out about Ehlena and becomes jealous, prompting her to threaten to out Rhevenge. I was kindof grossed out about the incestual thing between Rhevenge and his half-sister and cringed while reading those painful sex scenes. I was impatient for Rhevenge to be honest with Ehlena and for Ehlena to realize that she loved him and accept him for who he was. It seems like it is always a struggle in these books for the couples to communicate with each other and get their heads out of their butts. I guess that contributes to the tension and keeps us interested though.
Meanwhile, I felt terrible for Wrath as he became fully blind and also having to work through his marital issues with Beth. I did feel like he did well with Beth, realizing that he had to earn back her trust and staying honest with her. I liked the part where George the seeing-eye dog came along and Wrath adapted well to him. I look forward to reading more about that and about how Wrath does, adjusting to his life and his role as the king while being blind. I liked that he finally seemed to accept his duty as monarch with Beth's help and embracing it by having his father's old desk moved into the study.
I was very irritated with John as I have been through all of the books. He is just not my favorite character. I feel like he is weak, whiny, and irritating. He is so completely self-obsessed. I hated when he turned into a complete tool after feeling that Tohr and Xhex both rejected him in different ways. Seeing him cold, empty, and cruel was worse than seeing him whiny and emo in my opinion. His drunken sexcapades were just ridiculous and then when he had sex with Xhex without showing any kind of care and recognition of her felt like rape to me. I hated every minute of dealing with him in this book and am only looking forward to his book because I want to see Xhex returned.
I love to hate Lash. He is a perfect villain. I can't wait to see him killed. What a complete ass. The only part I was cheering for him in was when he had the princess as his sex slave. I was wishing he would take her out. I hope they find a way to get rid of him soon.

So far in the series this book probably has the best plot. Although I wish Ward went deeper into the plot with explaining more about the Sympaths and more clearer details on Revhenge's backstory, I have to remember that Ward is more of romance writer than hardcore fantasy writer. I hope she goes back to the sympaths in later books.
