Lover Avenged

J.R. Ward

4.14 AVERAGE

This entire series is VERY addicting and wonderful reads! :)

I really love the Black Dagger Brotherhood, but there was, however, a few things that bugged me about this book. First, there was the cursing. Sure, alright, they're tough guys and all, but does every second word really have to be a swear word? That started to really get under my skin. And then there was the length of the book. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against long books. But in this one it felt like a lot of separate books in one. I had that feeling all through the book until the end, where they suddenly got together. But by then I was already annoyed, so it only made it a little better. None the less, I was practically unable to put the book down. J.R. Ward certainly knows how to entertain her audience.

This is the story of Rehvenge, the half-sympath.This is my second favorite in the series after Unbound. The depth of the characters and the richness of the story is what keeps me coming back to these novels.

Loved it, loved it, loved it!

Vampiros y Sympaths musculosos, guapos y letales. Sexo, violencia, venganza, romance ¿Se necesita algo mas?

The overall story and world of this series gets better written with every book. Ehlena and Rehv were both likeable leads, I really enjoyed the Wrath side storyline, John Matthew was a little bit of a byotch, and JR Ward did some real creepy things with scorpions, spiders, and extra digit fingers.

4.5 stars!

This book was really great! Took me a long time to finish it not because I got bored but because I really just had more important things to do. But when I finished it… damn… I thought, why didn’t I put this on top of my priority list?

Rehvenge. When I read about him during the first books… I thought, how could Ward write his story? I mean… he’s half sympath after all. And that would be a big no-no for the vampires. But then… I read his story, and I was like… WOW. And to top it all, this was the first BDB book that made me cry. Even Zsadist’s story, which is my favorite, by the way, hadn’t been able to touch me that way.

So… I guess, based on what I wrote, I really loved the book.
dark emotional fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

Okay, BDB is a guilty pleasure for me. It is cheesy in SO many ways (the names of the guys, the descriptions of all of their “designer” clothes, the “shit kickers”, just to name a few things), but in other ways the fact that JR Ward is a compelling author really shines and just makes you not care that you’re reading embarrassing alpha-male vampire porn.

That being said, these stories just keep getting darker and darker and more and more angst driven. It started with Zhadist’s story (which I loved) and then it just spiraled away from there. It’s not that I expect these to be happy fairy tales but I just spent 9 hours reading a book that had more characters than The Last Supper and not a single one of them was even remotely happy.

I have also noticed the romances are starting to become second and the inner turmoils and fights are moving to the forefront. I noticed THAT with V’s story. I barely remember him and Doc Jane even having a romance it was so forced and rushed. I felt a little ripped off as V was a favorite of mine (even if he is kind of gay Hahahahahaha)....and then Phury’s story was one giant ball of self loathing and unhealthy coping mechanisms....it’s becoming a pattern.

This book was very good, but I felt awful the whole time I was reading it and I had to really push myself to finish. And this was after taking a break from the series for a while. And John Michael and Xhex have the worst relationship going on. I’m afraid to even read their actual story since the dysfunction between them has been going on for 3-4 books by now.

Rehv was another one of my personal favorites and his character really did shine in this book and I do like Ehlena....this book was good I just wish it would lighten up a little.

Maybe they get better from here who knows.

Oh wow!! this is a god one of the series! though female character, according to the leading male character... :) is this going for a movie... defenetly NOT twilight! :)
Ps. 3 stars because the one with zadist and bella was more intense.... but this one is great!
