It took me a surprising amount of time to get through his book, but I ended up liking it. Lover Avenged definitely opens up a whole new dimension by focusing primarily on sympaths, and, as the Brotherhood boys would say, what's doing with those darn lessers. Wrath is also a big part of this particular story, which I liked because he's my favorite Brother.
My favorite part of this book, however, is Rehvenge himself. I honestly did not expect to like him as much as I now do! He was such a good guy, particularly when it came to caring for the people around him - his co-workers, his friends, his family, and even the Brotherhood. It was hard not to appreciate all the sacrifices he made, and all the lengths he was willing to go through for the ones he loved. That, accompanied by the innate goodness in his girl Ehlena, definitely made for some really sweet moments to read about.

Always though Rehvenge was a cool dude, but after this book I love him! Him and Ehlena make such a good couple. Both brave and have good hearts! Xhex was awesome in this and I can't wait to read her story in the next book.
I like the twisted psychological angle with the sympaths in this one. I think they are fascinating creatures and I am enjoying learning more about them. My only complaint with this book is a character's casual used of the slur "gy**ed" to mean "ripped off." Does the author not realize that expression is offensive to an ethnic group? I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt as the book was written before sensitivity readers.
AVISO: ESTE LIVRO TEM A PIOR TRADUÇÃO QUE EU ALGUMA VEZ TIVE A INFELICIDADE DE LER!
The original story _in english_ is outstanding.
The characters as always, are bigger than life, and the plot is amazingly complex and dangerously addictive.
The author has the ability of connecting every single point in the story, leaving no lose ends.
There's action, romance, and drama.
There's stories, and moments in it, so heartbreaking, that they almost make a reader feel as if one's reading a non fiction work.
Probably there isn't a lot of authors who who'd have the courage to develop certain situations, the way they were dealt in this book.
I loved Rhevenge and Ehlena story.
Rhevenge especially, was an amazingly addictive character.
I cant wait to read what's is going to happen with the other characters!
And now i'm going to mention "some"(yeah, right!) problems of the portuguese edition.
A tradução portuguesa é, pura e simplesmente uma vergonha, não existe outra forma de a descrever.

Rehvenge and Ehlena - I really liked their story. It was a little different than the rest so far, plus it gave a lot of background info setting up the next one and giving insight to the wider vampire community outside the Brotherhood. Plus, really, a wonderful story of redemption and self-forgiveness, similar to Z's story (which was one of my other favs).

I liked Lover Avenged, but there was something about the book that didn't quite work for me. There seemed to be a shift somewhere; it didn't read like a Black Dagger Brotherhood book, IMO. Maybe it's because the book was about Rehvenge and he's not a brother. Also, this is the first time that I became annoyed with the lessers. They are an integral piece to the on-going war, but it was just about Lash finding ways to make money and it was boring to read about. Besides what's going on with Wrath, the storyline did not move forward in this book. The whole war issue with the lessers was at a stand-still and I wished there was some type of progression with it.
With my complaints aside, I loved Rehvenge and Ehlena. I liked how gentle he was with her and there was true emotion when they were together. I thought the revelation of who, and what, Rehvenge was handled beautifully. Ehlena's feelings and reactions were spot on and I admired how she was able to forgive him.
I felt so bad for JM in this book. He got kicked around too much, but I hated how he decided to handle everything. He's never had much guidance, and the one person he looks up to, was not around when he needed it. I am looking forward to his book, which I believe is next. Honestly, I hope it's not as long as this one was.

So it took me literally MONTHS to read this book. Mostly because I couldn't stand Lash and had to put it down for 4 months before finishing it.
My inability to tear through the book in no way reflects on Rehvenge who I have come to decide is my second favorite. Before Lover Avenged, I never really cared for him one way or another...same goes for Xhex. This time around though, I was able to see a different side to both of their characters. They both have a lot more depth then I had ever seen prior to this.
With my newfound love of Revhenge you can imagine how VERY unhappy I am that the woman he gets stuck with is such an uppity ______. <---Insert your own expletive there. Ehlena started off fine for me...loved the beginning where they were flirting and courting and Rehv was so tender. Then little by little she becomes Miss Judgey Pants!
I don't really want to get into too much without completely giving the story away. Ehlena sort of redeemed herself in my eyes, although it felt a little convenient and rushed but isn't that how each Brotherhood book has felt- at least for the last 3. (Haven't quite gotten to John Matthew yet.)
Overall it was a really good edition to the series, even with the issues I had. You get to see a nice big chunk of Wrath and all the other Brothers/shellans are accounted for. Even Mary!

I'm not going to lie; Rhev has kind of creeped me out in the previous books. I'm glad to say that my opinion of him has changed now that we know his story. And I love Ehlena even though she makes some interesting choices in the book. I especially love the developing relationship between John Matthew and Xhex. I can't wait for the next book!
