The illustrations are stunning and I really appreciate the story.
My favorite part about this book was the illustrations and the ending. The illustrations are beautiful and simple. The ending really gives the meat of the story and shows the cultures true appreciation of the natural world. I could see myself using this text in my classroom to bring in a multicultural text as some students may not have been exposed to some Native American stories such as this one.
Although this book now sparks discussions about cultural appropriation, it is a respectful glimpse into the mythology of Plains Indians. The illustrations are bold, vibrant, and full of emotion.

Gorgeous outwork which completely captivated my four year old. She asks me to re-read this one often. The text is a bit long but still a nice story.
Liked the illustrations much more than the flat story.
