I really don’t know what to think about the ending of this series, but it was definitely not what I was expecting! I really need to reread this to fully absorb all of the information.

A crappy ending for a crappy saga. I am free from the chains of this dreadful material. In the first half of the book I even had sympathies for the author. It seemed he could manage a decent ending with Darren grasping faith in his hands. Even the interlude was a bit remarkable and some lines were more than decent.
He then went on to ruin his own book. Admirably, in more than one way. His obsession towards indoctrination and "teaching lessons" through horror is pathetic at best, dimwitted if one is not too lenient. He butchers his craft by making characters say everything, reveal all the secrets, all the keys, all the clues.
Put a powerful witch and some weird necromancer and just make them in charge of anything. If the story is coming to a different direction, just pull those strings and you are right on track for the publisher and the deadline once again. Or at least that was the impression.
His humongous ego and narcissistic drives -because I can't find any other explanation for this- makes it impossible to set aside of himself. He goes back circle to prove some morals in a sad, sad way. His conclusion is the one of a brat dreaming who is too afraid to be perceived as a warmongering creature.
Darren becomes his own father and protector, but has this annoying adult attitude of condescension. You can almost listen to him justifying it by saying "it's what is best for him". Finally, which kind of short sighted and short spirited writer creates the ruler of the Earth and time to disregard literature? I can't even. Fortunately, penitence is over for me, but beware future readers. This does not nurture your soul is just a piece of junk food.

This went from emotional to super weird to very clever. Love it.
