Darren Shan
The series was intriguing and page-turner, the writer has a very special imagination It took me to other worlds and am looking forward to read his other writings, the finale broke my heart, I didn't expect it, for vampire lovers it's an interesting P.O.V about them, the first 6 books are good or mediocre you have to get through them to the better half of the series. I loved it.
How do I feel about the ending of this book. . .? It is not what you expect. Darren Shan was brilliant, and it is apparent at the end of the book that he knew what he was going to do from the very beginning. I love writers like that. His plot twists seemed so impossible to get out of, and had me scared that the series wouldn't end well. But at the end... It was good end, but not the ending I wanted. It was not the ending fans of our vampire Darren wanted. The author was genius, but his ending for his hero left me in great sadness. It is not a bad ending for Darren, just not the ending I would have picked. Darren makes a choice that I would have believed he would not make. But he did. And then all the rest was left to the imagination.
“But in life we don't usually get to choose the time of our defining moments. We just have to stand and face them when they come, no matter what sort of a state we're in.”
Dear Darren Shan (the author),
Thank you for an AMAZING series. Books 1-11 have been a ride - I devoured them in less than a month. Book 12 though...seriously man? I completely understand the meaning of the ending but it was not a fitting ending in the slightest. The book practically ends around page 100 and there's another ~140 pages of philosophical verbiage. I've rated every books in the series as a 4 or 5, but the last book is of much lower quality. I would give it a two, but I have too much respect for the series.
P.S. I hope the ending of the Demonata series is better.

I read this series as a teenager, along with a friend, and we loved the series books 1 -11, as in we could not devour those books fast enough and it formed the main topic of conversation for a good amount of time.
Then this book came out, the end to a wonderful series and we felt like we had been tricked. We were so invested in the story and the characters and then this was how Shan decided to end the series! 10 years later I am still angry!

how to make your last 11 books pointless in only 10 pages: a guide
This entire series has been 5/5 stars for me all the way through - but I'll part of me wasn't sure about the ending. This one is maybe a 4.75/5 - literally only knocking a tiny part off because I can't decide if the ending was the best or worst thing I'd ever read.
It was genius, and it was right in front of our eyes the whole time in the name of Mr Des Tiny. It was so tense that I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it, then had to stop just to try and absorb everything that I'd read.
The whole way through, I'll admit there was a part of me that had thought the ending would involve Darren and Steve either having to make up or Steve dying, and a slightly happy outcome. It's just the place I thought or maybe secretly hoped the book was heading. I didn't anticipate the manipulation and predetermined fate that had been hidden this whole time.
I wanted to scream, or cry, or celebrate - it plays on so many emotions that it almost feels as thought you're standing there watching it unfold in front of you.
It's dark and twisted, and completely engrossing. If you want a series to get stuck into, I'd recommend this any day.
