Okay so from the title alone obviously this is going to mention another kid of Mr. Tiny's cause in every book he is in Darren (the character and the author) like to point out that his name Des Tiny is destiny...a little too on the nose but I get it. Honestly I loved Steve as a villain, his psychotic fall into being extremely evil, so enjoyable. Only really thing that wasn't good about him was the constant monologuing when revealing things, like I get why he did that but it really just took too long (kind of like this series). I figured another child was going to be somehow revealed but I was not expecting both Darren and Steve were going to be Mr. Tiny's. That he purposely pitted them against each other so humanity wouldn't gain peace, I mean no wonder Steve likes these elaborate plans. Steve even tells Darren, "you and I are the sons of destiny." I definitely felt bad for RV because he was definitely a character that only wanted to do good and then he kind of went insane and then died tragically. I do commend Darren though on sacraficing himself, refusing to fall under Mr. Tiny's will and controlling his own fate. I also thoroughly enjoyed the fact that Mr. Tiny was finally bested. And Darren's monologue when he's in the Lake of Souls, too long! Why does this author insist on having MULTIPLE monologues! I am done with it, get on with whatever you have left my dude. Overall, honestly, the ending kind of lame. I mean Darren has to become a little person and then scares his past self and then he dies? I mean...I just feel like the whole series was leading up to this build and then boom. None of the main characters that I enjoyed and brought me into the series is alive and I'm supposed to be okay with this ending? Like...no thanks. And Mr. Tiny just gets to live his life all fine and dandy? And we were never actually told what Mr. Tiny is...come on, there was just so many loose ends and it just felt so unsatisfying. Darren FINALLY makes a good decision and sacrifices himself after all those mistakes he made? I just feel like I wanted more than what was actually given. It could've been so much more. I am glad that Darren was able to free his former self from Mr. Tiny's horrible fate but, I just have more questions than anything else.

One thing that Cirque du Freak always leaves you with is the feeling of wanting more. You never want the book to end... that was not the case with this one. After reading this the only feeling it left me with is disappointment. This was the first book of the series I wanted to hurry up and end.

It's easy to understand why the book ended the way it did. Darren Shan is great at making his readers feel on edge and sorry for his characters. Darren Shan likes to twist things to give his book that WOW factor, but sadly this was not his best. He needed a twisted ending to top off his twisted story but this book did not do this series justice.

Overall: This was a great series. It's a way to ease yourself into the darker side of reading and experience some heart wreaking moments. Though Darren Shan writes these books in a childish form of writing, it is not childish in any way. The main character goes through some tough things, such as watching his friends age and go on with their lives while he stays young, having people close to him betray him, and watching those closet to him die. Shan also knows how to make you fall in love with his characters. No one can forget Gavner and his yellow and pink elephant boxers, or harkat mulds adorableness despite the fact he is a ugly little creature. Darren Shan has a way of making the characters remain with you despite the book being over. The ending of the book isn't necessarily good, it could of been better, but the rest of the series makes up for what the ending lack. It is still a great read that one will never forget

All I can be bothered to say about this series is that I am so entirely thankful that it's over. The relief that I feel now that I know I never have to open this book again and that it — along with all its predecessors — can go straight to my local charity shop is extreme.

It was that bad.

In fact, the ending quite literally invalidates any reason you might have had for actually reading the series, let alone this particular book. It was a waste of time, honestly. The main character actually goes back and undoes every single event starting from the first book, which means that, in turn, the last book should never even exist. It's just so ridiculously stupid that I cannot believe it made it past editing.
