Very spicy, questionable werewolfy consent stuff at the beginning, you gotta just suspend your disbelief

There was nearly nothing I enjoyed about this book. If anything I enjoyed the way vampires and werewolves were written. The plot was fairly decent, but even that was overshadowed by this inept take on a romance. There was so much non-con and dub-con that I don’t think a romance is even possible. Emmaline was so naive and sheltered that she was borderline annoying. Lachlain was so disgusting pushy and violent that I could not for the life of me enjoy his character even after the “development”. Not for me in the slightest.

For Ripped Bodice's Fantasy Romance Book Club. Lachlan never redeems himself enough for me to sympathize with him. I disliked the description of Emma's height and weight (5'4" 105 lb) and hated that she is simultaneously tiny and delicate and fragile but then somehow becomes an elite warrior who can take down vampires with no practice or training. I almost put the book down when Lachlan said that Emma had a clever, complicated mind because she never once demonstrates this. She's reacting to events that happen as they happen and never shows any kind of planning or foresight. They don't share any significant moments outside of gift-giving and sex. My summary: if Stephanie Meyer wasn't a Mormon.

adventurous dark fast-paced

Between the posessive alpha male werewolf, the extra-special, virginal virgin vampire-valkry who never even held a man's hand and all the pushing of personal boundries, this book was not for me.
Some of the dialogs were fun and the narrator was good.
