Solid continuation to the series, but honestly the complexity of the world is a little overwhelming. Honestly without the reference guides it would be impossible for me to keep track of everything. I'm still annoyed with Theon's constant "we'll talk about this later" line - when is later, Theon?! When will we learn our lesson? Azel and Katya are my favorite, which basically means they were doomed from the start. Luka>Theon.

"Feeling is what keeps us from becoming monsters, Tessa." " Maybe I want to be the monster!"

"Facing truths is difficult, but deciding what to do with those truths is the greatest burden of all."

I wanted to learn more about the world that Melissa created and her writing kept me wanting to continue reading this book. I almost DNF with about 15% left in the book because of Tessa and with how long the book is and nothing really happened until the last portion of the book.

Tessa is truly one of the most infuriating and frustrating MFC that I’ve ever read. Her mood is so up and down. I found myself rolling my eyes and getting extremely bored with her constant attitude and with changing her mind every chapter. She is childish and meek.
Tessa was raised fae and to serve a legacy. She was shocked and upset in the first book… okay we get it. Get over your predicament and either accept what has happened to you or fight to free yourself.
I a lot of people hate Theon’s character but the way that I see it… he was conditioned under extreme circumstances by his father that included mental and physical torture. While he kept secrets from Tessa to shield and protect her. He only ever treated her terribly one time and that was when he locked her in the wine cellar. If only she told Theon some of the trauma that she went through at her previous estate, I feel like Theon would have never locked her in the cellar.

I am going to hold off on book three. If I get an inkling to pick it up and find out what happens in the third one it will be a miracle.

"At first, I assumed they were simply protecting the females in the room, but apparently the males here are just assholes."

4.5 stars. Still true imo but two of them I felt were less so in this book. I had concerns after the first one but I'm delighted with the path this took and can't wait to read the next one.

Not gonna lie this is a long book. Definitely enjoyed this more than the first one and there’s a lot of development in the plot, characters and relationships. The ending is crazy too! I feel like I’m confused most of the time reading this series but it’s starting to finally make more sense. Also axel was the saving grace for me. He provided a nice break from Theon/Tessa/Luka

MMC finally got his head out of his ass. Book was made more bearable by the different perspectives, but it’s definitely taken too long to get to the actual point of this series, as if definitely didn’t need the +- 1500 pages on e-reader for FMC to turn on the MMC.
