i dnfed it at 70% because if i had known going into it that it was going to be a love triangle, not even that but like a thruple vibe i would have left it i wouldn’t have started it but it didn’t tell me that. So the first book was good because it was just the MMC and the FMC. but then in this one the author has decided to take the romance into such a shit route by making his friend want her aswell and that might be other people’s cups of tea but i genuinely detest love triangles and it never told me I SWEAR I NEERD A TRIGGER WARNING BECAUSE WHY CAN THESE PEOPLE JOT CONTROL THENSELVES JUST LIKE ONE FUCKING PERSON HINESTLY UM RAGING. it’s so pathetic i can’t cope and i’m not built for it i’m too much of a anxious and loyal person for you to be messing my emotions like this. It has such good potential aswell but i am not the one for that trope. GOD IM SO DISSAPPINTED because it had such a. good plot. But i really CAN NOT overlook it. I am giving it 2 stars tho cuz what i HAVE read, the world it was in was good and it has such a good lore around it but i just can’t go ahead with the rest of it because of where it’s leading to.
I feel a massive weight lifted off my chest actually because all i’ve been doing whilst reading this is SIGHING . God honestly i’m fuming WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY . Also i found all the characters to be immature, pathetic and i felt like they all needed to get a grip. except axel
Just looked up spoilers for the other book btw and everyone’s agreeing with me apart from the ones who LIKE the love triangle- Thruple fuckign thing . Anyway whatever i’m fuming
Tessa the FMC was the most insufferable character i have ever had to endure. She would not stop complaining and was the most annoting butch. So fuckign angry
First time in my life i’ve been provoked to hit a woman

A Favorite Quote: “Because the dark still plagued her, and time spent in pleasure at his hands still managed to drive it away, and fuck him for being both her destruction and salvation.”
Self-written Blurb: We are back in Devram and Theon is on a mission to figure out Tessa’s lineage. The Achaz lord, his father, the lords and ladies of all the kingdoms… they all demand answers. Answers to which he doesn’t have. All he needs is time to uncover the truths, to unveil the secrets, and pull Devram’s enigma from the depths of shadows and darkness. But what happens when time runs out and Theon is no closer to his salvation and the only thing that remains is a storm of wildness and fury that leaves a path of destruction in the wake of Chaos.
What I enjoyed: Once again Melissa K. Roehrich’s beautiful writing has strung me along for another wild ride full of fury and chaos. The second installment of the Legacy series has left me yearning for more. Every stone of truth that is overturned- only generates more questions. This book will hold you captive page after page and will sink its teeth in and not let go in the best kind of ways. We are introduced to Axel and Luka’s POV which only adds to the depth and drama this story produces. I was shaken by the end of this book and I had to begin to question everything I knew. Melissa’s writing embodies the term ‘beautiful pain’. The banter, tension and the slow burn is beyond masterful.
Any struggles?: The only struggles that I had was the pining and yearning for there to be more with Luka. The tension between him and Tessa was cruel to say the least.
Will I recommend and to who: If you like dark fantasy romance, you need to read this series. Also- the playlists are pure fire and I’m obsessed so you should be too.

Ugh, MKR you do this to me every darn time and I love you so much for it! I’m left confused emotionally + mentally on how I feel about this read. I absolutely adored Luka Mors and his character development in Book 2 and honestly, he saves this for me because his character evolves while Tessa and Theon are stagnant. Katya being added was a wonderful reprieve from the dark cloud of intolerably known as Theon. Axel, you better be okay because you are another welcome reprieve from the awful character known as Theon. Honestly, he’s the least likable Theon I’ve ever known + Theon Greyjoy puts this man to shame; he’s not even hot!
For reference, Theon Greyjoy in ASOIAF betrays the very house he was raised by only to later lose his genitalia and sense of self through torture and abduction by a rival house’s heir. Theon continues to be a LESSER Tamlin if Tam Tam was a sad, sorry shadowbabe. I honestly have no idea how Tessa would ever have sex with this man. I even now find myself skimming his sex scenes and who the hell does that or wants to do that in a darker fantasy romance?
I LOVE MKR and her writing, so making Theon a MMC was odd but let’s not forget the dark world she so brilliantly created for us. If I have such an emotional reaction to a character, to me, that is really good writing and the author being savvy! So, MKR, have at my heart!
I also loved the evolution of the story with the World Walkers and cross-realm dynamics being introduced to Scarlett and Sorin, as well as two others who I think may be related to Luka somehow? Look, we need more dragons, period 🐉 Luka is the real deal and his connection with Tessa is otherworldly, yet very real. I’m even angrier knowing he’s definitely also not from Devram and somehow Theon got to snatch him up as he does everything else like the loser he is.
Only gripe? This book seemingly was lacking Luka POV as we got small morsels in order to advance the story. I also wonder why the hell he was stashed and snagged by Arius Kingdom.. so much missing details & I need more, now 🤣 These bonds and marks (Source, Guardian, Tracking, Bargian and gods know what else) are starting to wear on my interest, though, but I think Melissa has a plan going forward. Lastly, we all know that Theon has emerald eyes and that Valter continues to act like Lionel Acrux, so good job Tess. I really hope for some evolution in Book 3 because Theon, please can go play in traffic 🤷🏼♀️ I want to like my MMC if I have to be in his head! Oh Melissa, you are masterful!

I kept reading the second book dispite not being a fan of the first one because I thought that perhaps the author had some sort of big arching plan to finaly create some big dramatic character build up for Tessa. But no that did not happen, shes is still the same weak flat character who whines alot.
I felt like Tessa keeps saying, screaming, crying and begging to anyone that would listen that she does not want to be with Theo, that she would rather do anything else and that if she ever gets the power to regain her freedom she would. Well plot twist... she gets strong but still cant do anything to help herself.
There is so much abuse, torture, assault and inhumane treatment in this book for absolutly no reason. It never goes anywhere, it never changes the characters . I feel like this book could of had some potential but it just all felt flat for me and as a result I will not be picking up the next book.
For nearly all of book one and part of book 2 Tessa is screaming, crying and begging to anyone that would listen that she does not want this, that this is against her will and that she wants out of this bond and away from Theon and his nutjob family. So tell me why when she finally gets her bad ass powers and is FINALLY GIVEN THE CHOICE TO CHOSE to go somewhere safe where she will be treated better she says "no thanks I think there is absolutly something between me and Theon"
Girl what? What do you mean there is something between you too, all he ever did was abuse you and then have sex with you under questionable circumstances. Oh and lets not mention let other people abuse you. For proof the MINUTE she goes back to that house his dad cuffs her magic in the most painful way possible and what does Theon do ? NOTHING. He just lets her suffer for weeks and keeps abusing her just like he has before. Oh and lets not even mention the extremely painful and inhumane examination for her powers that he watched her do only to be upset that she wouldnt talk to him after bleeding from her nose and ears and screaming in agony. ...
Also why is the side female character also a carbon copy of Tessa? except better behaved? Shes insanely beautiful, obsessed with quirky foods .. Whats with the FCs all being so into food tessa with the chocolate and the other Fc with peanut butter?

I have never hated a character in a book more than I hate Theon. I kept expecting some form of redemption, but he has the personality of a controlling rock. None of the characters had any notable character development, and the plot just dragged on with the majority being the same conflict we dealt with in the first book. I had to dnf after probably the 20th time of them going from arguing, him telling Tessa he wants to own all of her, and then making out.

First of all, I absolutely love the recap of the previous book at the beginning of the book. Why don’t all authors do this? It is so helpful especially if you’re not able to read the books back to back/if there’s a long gap between book releases.
I feel like Genie when he says to Aladdin “tell her the TRUTH!” Like, damn, this man is really manning. Wondering if this a VIP party because Theon is always gatekeeping. Supposedly they have electricity in this realm but Theon is always gaslighting. Theon FAFO now ya girl is girlbossing. Can’t wait for the dad to die and I just know that match hoe and Dex are sketchyyyyy. Immediately on to the next in the series.
