There was a lot in this book that I didn't necessarily want to hear, but very much needed to. It was an uncomfortable but necessary listen that helped me recognize and unpack some of the flawed expectations I had of myself, others, and the spaces I exist in. It also gave me new ways of looking at things and making connections that I hadn't been able to see before (again, in ways that were uncomfortable but necessary).

Preppers are prepping for the wrong skills: kindness, empathy, social awareness, fairness are how we will survive in a disaster. *Make sure the basic needs of everyone are met.*
Grief is a manifestation of love
Hope is not optional. It's a necessity. There has to be hope. There has to be hope. There has to be some light ahead that we can follow.
Accompanying each other through grief can help pave the way forward.
After all, the whole world is at stake. We must ask ourselves, How much discomfort is the whole world worth?

This is an amazing book full of wisdom and encouragement and hope and analysis of the various systems of oppression that require us to act for justice and collective liberation.
