I don't think this book necessarily needs a close read but the overall concepts by chapter were each very helpful. From knowing your movement can't have a purity test - you need everyone even if they differ on some view points, to giving yourself seasons - take time or else you will burn out. I also appreciate that every organizing or movement book I read about US movements has a chapter about Palestine - because Palestinian liberation is part of our collective liberation. Great read.

Absolutely cannot stand the narration.

A beautiful mix of realism and hope.

This book has so much great information. Sometimes that information gets bogged down in lots of real-world examples that read more like a memoir. That caused me to lose steam as I read.

  • “It is the grandest illusion ever created: in a world where corporations and governments worldwide are poised to annihilate most life on Earth, we are made to believe that other disempowered people are the greatest danger we face.”
  • I didn’t realize how little I knew about mutual aid until I read this book
  • Highly recommend this if you’re feeling hopeless rn
  • Borrowed from the library but will be getting my own copy
