This was a very good read and I think something everyone should read! I really like how it focused on the collective side of activism and navigated the feelings of burn out and hope within activism. I liked all the specific examples, mostly based out of Chicago, and how they added a lot of nuance to what was being discussed. It did feel a little repetitive at times, but that didn’t bother me too much.

This is a wonderful and important book on the basics of organizing. It's a great primer for newer organizers and also I found it a meaningful, if sometimes chastening, reminder as a somewhat experienced organizer. The reminders about meeting people where they are, taking the time to organize relationally, that facts don't change minds, that not abandoning people is a form of resistance - all of that was important for me to remember in this moment. Grateful for Kaba and Hayes for this loving gift.

We would all (with the exception of a tiny handful of the world’s wealthiest men) benefit from the overthrow of cis-het patriarchy. And we’d all benefit from the abolition of White supremely too.

This book leaves me feeling hope that we as individuals can make a difference, especially when we work with others towards our shared aims.
