I liked the small town vibe. I just didn't understand why Stella felt the need to continue with the assignment once she arrived in Holly Pointe. If her character had been portrayed as a hard core reporter who was all about getting the story, it would have made more sense to me. As it was, she had a job, a place to stay, and no one to go back to in Florida.

You just knew that Sam and everyone else was going to find out the real reason Stella was in Holly Pointe. Yet, knowing did not lessen the impact at all.

Thankfully, you still get that special holiday season HEA. I love holiday books.

This was the perfect way to start the holiday season. Cindy Kirk shines when bringing to the page a picture of small towns and the best part of the small town life. Stella Carpenter, a native to Miami, has been laid off from her job at the local paper, her parents died in a tragic car accident several years ago and she recently broke up with a boyfriend who it turns out was married. She wants to take back control of her life instead of living on a friend's couch. When her former editor calls her back to the office with the offer of a month long assignment in Holly Pointe in order to dig up dirt on the so-called friendliest town, Stella has reservations, but takes the job none the less. What follows is worthy of a live action Hallmark movie and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and truly did care about the characters. I felt that the plot was fairly predictable in regard to Stella's gathering information on and speculation about different residents within the town of Holly Pointe. As she continues to gather information for her article, she also makes friends, meets a hunky guy who is the town manager. As she continually takes part in the month long festivities as the town's acting social media person, she begins to realize that salacious gossip journalism just isn't who she is, and would disappoint her deceased parents. As she tries to get herself out of writing the article and also tell Sam, her new love interest, the truth about why she was in Holly Pointe in the first place, things come falling down. I wish that we had gotten a bit more in terms of some the the other character's backstories, although knowing Ms. Kirk and penchant for great small town book series, I am hoping we get another Holly Pointe book in the future. I received an advanced copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

This is a fun holiday romance that was the perfect compliment to the holiday season. While there is a thread of ethical tension through the story, the story was pretty sweet and flowed nicely. The chemistry between Stella and Sam was sizzling. While the small town details were similar to other Kirk stories, I found the holiday flavor of Holly Pointe to be extra fun.

I found this story to be a wonderful read during the Holiday season. It was filled with the joys of the holidays as well as the traditions of a community and giving back to those in need. It was a very nice story that really touched your soul and gives the reader the reminder of what is important during this time of the year. I read this book in 2 days and enjoyed every minute of it. There is enough in the story line to keep you engaged and wondering what the twist will be and how it will be resolved but not too much that you aren't able to just ready in a sitting. I think that Cindy Kirk did a great job with this novel and with the story of Stella and Sam. I am a huge fan of Cindy Kirk's writing style and look forward to her next book. I am wondering if Holly Pointe and Mistletoe are part of another series of Cindy's because I would love to learn more about some of the other characters in the story. Thank you Cindy Kirk for yet another fabulous town setting and the straight to the heart feels of and for these characters. Although it ended rather abruptly and from the beginning you can tell where the story is headed, it was tied together beautifully and you can't help but to be captivated by the scenic description of the town and people. I hope the stories in Holly Pointe continue, I'd love to see who it follows next!

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. Who wouldn't want to live in Holly Pointe? A quaint little community where everyone is genuinely nice, helpful, and really gets into the Christmas spirit? Sign me up! Holly Pointe & Mistletoe is my favorite book, so far, from author Cindy Kirk. The characters were relatable and normally flawed. What I mean by that is, when something goes wrong, or when one is offended, their reactions are typically human. Often times stories over-exaggerate character's reactions, whereby a 35-year-old man will suddenly resort to the emotional maturity of his inner 12-year-old. Thankfully, this is not the case for the residents of Holly Pointe. The story really painted a visual picture of the town, the shops, and all of the holiday festivities. If I lived in Vermont, I could see myself making an annual journey to this town just to partake in the celebrations. The story is a relatively clean romance that has just enough sauce to keep the reader energized. If you're looking for a fun, heartwarming holiday read, this is the book for you.
