"All men make mistakes, but a good man yields when he knows his course is wrong, and repairs the evil. The only crime is pride."
A bold Greek tragedy about a defiant, principled young woman who challenges the law of the land. Honestly, Antigone still solos modern female characters. She is stubborn, brave, and unshakably committed to her beliefs. Antigone is immediately sympathetic and likeable in the few pages you get to spend with her.
The plot is simple: a moral clash between Antigone and Creon over state authority. There's not much action until the climax, but the tension is smothering. The stakes are built through heated dialogue exchanges and clashing ideologies.
Creon was a compelling antagonist whosuccumbs tragically to his own pride. All in all, a memorable short story.

Didn't like this that much either, but I'm glad I finally read this because it is also a classic!

The translation of the classic tragedy by Sophocles was great, but some of the introduction and contextual analysis was a bit overwrought.
This might just be a flaw with the ebook version, but all the notes are at the end instead of footnoted, I think this is a mistake in format for a heavily annotated text from antiquity.
