I just couldn't wait for this book to get over. I DNFed it multiple times but yet somehow was able to complete it. Had this book been 150 pages less, it still would have made sense. There was no reason to include so many instagram posts, which I am sure many would have skipped.

Starting off with a statement on the authors intentions with the story lines she is representing and the fact that it went through sensitivity screen was a great start. But any book that contains the word “lumbersexual” is going to have to give a lot in other areas for me to like it.
The female protogonist lacks defined emotions that would be reasonable in this situation and often lacked reasonable explainations for her actions - intentional character quirk? Unsure.
There are also many secondary characters that are added with relatively little info so it became overwhelming at points to try and match names with previous tidbits about their personalities. I struggled with the sermons being presented as social media posts, but there is a good chance that is just the millennial in me. The conflict that threatens the relationship being one between the character, social media response, and the negative thoughts it provoked was a novel take on the standard plot!

Just as this review teeter-totters between positive and negative, I similarly oscillated between enjoying and feeling neutral about this book.

Bleh. Nah.

I wanted to like this… I’m a curvy girl myself. But there were too many blehhhh things about it. I hated the Influencer “Deep thoughts.” I hated the repetition. I didn’t care at all about the characters.

Made it just over 30% and DNF’d. My last straw was the blood draw scene where 1. Martin was supposed to pick up and didn’t but it doesn’t actually make sense w the story why Flo would’ve mentioned and 2. MC asked about the flu shot, but was referring to a stomach bug instead of the upper respiratory infection that is actually what the vaccine is for.

Lost me. I’m out.

This was a fun, easy romance to read! Perfect spring/summer vacation book.

This book was a fun, quick, cheesy read. However, some parts were a bit iffy:

e.g: the mother pretending to be disabled in order to take her dog places- weird, the whole grandparents cheating plot line- totally unnecessary, and i couldn’t get over the repeated pop culture references.

Yes I know it’s a book about influencers so social media references make sense but sometimes it just feels a bit overkill (am not a fan of tiktok being mentioned in books)

Scott and Crystal were so sweet together and made perfect sense for one another. Would recommend for a fast, cheesy rom-com read.

-PS- rating might change

Done and dusted with this beaut! After almost 4 weeks of being in a book slump and starting multiple books to try and get out of it, this book really helped. And that’s something. The romance between Scott and Crystal was so damn adorable and goofy and cute and I devoured this book in 2 days. There’s a deeper message on body positivity and racism and how social media can take a toll on someone’s life which made things so much better. Being a bookstagrammer myself, I think I needed to read this book and because of the message it entails. I related to it on deeper level, considering I am someone who struggles a lot with accepting myself for who I am. While the plot, the story was really amazing, it felt a tad bit lengthy. This could’ve been an easy 250 pages book and that’s the only reason it’s 4/5⭐️ read for me. Although, a must must read! Can’t wait to read exes and o’s now!❤️

This book is nonstop fitspo with a protagonist I wish I could be friends with in real life.
