there was a lot of this book that I enjoyed. I thought the mmc was extremely cute & funny. I thought the banter was pretty good throughout, liked the romance aspect, and the idea of “taking things slow” in order for the two characters to develop trust in one another. i think the supporting characters, specifically grandma flo, made this book more enjoyable for me. I laughed out loud a few times while reading which is important to me in books like this! the fmc crystal is a fitness influencer on insta and I really enjoyed how her mission/message changed by the end.
overall, the book didn’t really meet my expectations and I think I will blame that on the fmc. the second half of the book, I really began to dislike her. I thought she was a bit selfish & hypocritical. her continuous need to withhold information and not communicate with the mmc was so infuriating to me (especially because she confronted him for doing the exact same thing; see hypocrite above lol). also, the way that she handled every single conflict within this book was a big no from me.
I don’t think the author did a bad job at exploring the topic of plus size bodies/body positivity/etc. I did cringe a couple times though because I didn’t love what I was reading at maybe a couple points regarding the topic. in my opinion, “curvy” and “plus sized” are very different. I think it’s all about perspective here. as a woman living in a plus sized body, my perspective while reading this is going to be much different than someone reading who is not or hasn’t ever been. (no one is wrong in how reading this makes them feel, don’t get me twisted lol) this is why I was glad to see the evolution of the fmc’s message & perspective at the end.
oh and this book had not one but two grand gestures and that is also a big no from me 97% of the time. I can’t stand them. that’s a me thing but the main one here was cringe.

As a curvy girl I found this book very relatable. Skipped some of the steamy parts but really enjoyed the overall story.

Started out kind of annoying and not a fan of the social media post/comment story telling at times throughout. Was starting to enjoy it until the random cancer scare had to be dropped in in the second half.
Minor: Cancer
