I probably would’ve given it 4 stars up until the last 100 pages or so. There’s action interspersed with politics throughout - a lot going on but it didn’t feel like it was moving forward much until the end. The end, though, was epic. I think a lot of this book is focused on character development and setting up The Hero of Ages - which I can’t wait to start.

I wasn't a fan of the first half of the book, a few things happened that I was at odds with and honestly I was a little disappointed by. It was all a little too transparent for my liking but the second half redeemed itself and by the end I was ready to read book 3.
