This is the first a subseries following Stephanie Plum through various holidays. This was a fun Christmas novel! I've come to this point in the main series at a perfect time, as I am trying to prevent myself from diving into Christmas before Thanksgiving. I'm not sure the love triangle follows directly from Hard Eight, but I like where Stephanie's romantic life is headed after this installment! I enjoyed seeing the introduction of Diesel, from Evanovich's Lizzy and Diesel paranormal series. I wish I had waited on that series until after I had read this, I loved seeing the unofficial crossover. While I agree with reviews that the plot is rushed, it was a lighthearted good read.
It had more supernatural in this book. It was hard to get into it especially in the beginning. I wish Steph & Diesel didn't have a flirty relationship. I have read the other series where Diesel is in it. I didn't like it as much as the Stephanie Plum's series.
9/1/20: It's cutesy although it's strange to think that Stephanie would experience supernatural and then promptly never think about it again as the series continues. I missed Ranger.

I love the Stephanie Plum series but this one left me with the WTF feeling. The plot was weak and rushed. There are a bunch of questions left unanswered about Diesel, Ring and Claws. And Morelli suddenly leaving Stephanie a voice-mail telling her not to call him back because he's busy and can't always talk? The Stephanie I know would of been suspicious of it with jealous thoughts of Terry Gilman and Morelli in a hotel somewhere soon setting in.
The worst of the between the numbers series.
