Wow! Romance is not my go to but I was curious about work from this author and while Seven Days in June has polarized reviews, this one seemed more my speed. And my goodness, I’m glad I chose it! The characters felt believable and engaging, the language doesn’t try too hard, the chemistry and banter isn’t forced. You can kind of guess at what’s happening in the beginning, but it doesn’t become so predictable that it detracts from the story as a whole. The unfolding is still all so beautiful and lush. The marriage of nostalgia from a dynamic era like the 20s up against the innovative and fluid modern society is so well crafted. Also, I am a sucker for words that tell such a depth of feeling, and this book has it in spades. Ezra and Ricki’s chemistry makes you want to believe in real magic…it’s the stuff that rom-coms are made of. Definitely would read this again and again!

This book wasn’t really what I thought it was going to be, but not in a bad way.
I enjoyed the elements reflecting on the Harlem Renaissance and the way it was tied back into present day.

Though it was pretty insta-lovey, I enjoyed Ezra and Rickie and how they came together.

I wish I could give this so many more stars, this is a romantic classic. A beautiful mix of something new and old. An amazing love story. Ordering it asap, I need it on my shelf to push on others.
