Fantastic! Down with large quality of life disparities! Down with the patriarchy! Down with classism! Etc!

Homeboy had me in the first half ngl. I just knew something had to be wrong with him. He seemed too good to be true… and he was because men ain’t shit.

Also, bitches get stuff done. Yes, sisterhood. Rip to the ladies being gaslit to think they’re crazy.

I do like how we avoided the miscommunication trope. Homeboy #2 definitely could have done more to mitigate the circumstances but men are dumb and he didn’t think of that.

I liked the character development of FMC. She’s smart enough to recognize that different people have different strengths. She’s strategic and has emotions but she doesn’t let them rule her decision making. We love her. Alexa, play Vigilante Shit by Taylor Swift.

This was a fun book but I swear it was like Fourth Wing but with wolves and a little bit of a court this cruel and lovely vibes.

As I posted this and scrolled down and saw “Fourth Wing meets Hunger Games” in the description and I never saw that.

It doesn’t feel like X meets X but rather I could pick out character by character matches between the two without knowing this was marketed as FW-esque.

The writing was not the most intricately woven and plenty of plot holes, however the story was interesting and fun, and I consumed it so quickly and am ready for book 2

okay, this was good enough that I’m looking forward to the next one—but idk how hopeful I am.

1. this felt like Fourth Wing with dire wolves. which actually would have been pretty sick… but I’m not even a wolf girlie and I didn’t get enough wolf. lots of missed opportunities there, in my humble opinion.

2. and I hate to be the person who compares everything I read to a SJM novel, but I feel like Sorensen tried to
do the “Tamlin thing”
with Killian and she was NOT slick with it? was she trying to be?
I knew off rip Killian wasn’t ultimately going to be the MMC and the couple’s graphic on-page sex scenes were
EXCRUCIATING.

3. Meryn, in general, started off so promising and  just unraveled like a fool partway through. she was so painfully dense at times. I tried to give the character some grace by putting myself in her shoes, but I shouldn’t have had to make such a conscious effort to relate to the protagonist—I think the author could’ve helped me with that a little more; it is fiction after all. and romantasy at that lol.

also is Stark a GOT reference???

Was this very predictable, yes, did I still eat it up, yes 🙌🏼 Absolutely loved this, great character growth from the FMC and I loved her friendships too.

Perhaps to obvious foreshadowing near the beginning which gives away that a certain character isn’t as they seem. As I’ve read a lot of romantasy books is obvious who she is meant to be with & who her wolf is bonded to etc

Loved the trials, these were well written and definitely got my adrenaline going!

Still great twists near the end. Definitely excited for the next book 🙌🏼
