Another great Tiffany Aching tale!

A lovely follow-up to The Wee Free Men, but not Pratchett's best work.
I really enjoy the Lancre witches and the Tiffany books are a fantastic young adult addition to the story. I loved how this story was a coming of age tale with the supernatural as a real and organic part of the story. This is a book that can appeal to all ages and Pratchett is absolutely one of my favorite authors.
Tiffany Aching is off to learn how to be a witch. She is going to apprentice with Miss Level, who is a witch with one mind but two bodies. Tiffany is leaving her beloved Chalk behind, but she knows she needs to learn to be a witch so she can come back and be the hag of the hills. Rob Anybody has a new kelda and Jeannie isn't too thrilled about Rob's concern for Tiffany. Afterall, Tiffany was kelda for a while and engaged to Rob even if that was just for show. But when the Nac Mac Feegle's realize Tiffany is being pursued by a hiver they know they can't let her leave on her own.
The hiver is a creature who collects powerful bodies. It wants them for its own and uses them up until they die. When it takes over Tiffany she has to fight with everything she has to come back. Of course she has the wee free men to help her and some new friends as well. Granny Weatherwax makes another appearance and helps guide Tiffany to her final battle.
I love all the Discworld books, but Tiffany has a special place in my heart. I just love her spunk and inner voice (first thoughts, second thoughts, and third thoughts). Of course the stars of these books are the Nac Mac Feegle who are hilarious! I want to start saying "crivens" while reading these books. I think Pratchett is such a smart writer. The books are fun to read, but they also send a message through the story. The message of this book is about evil and what makes something evil. There is also a wonderful message about home and how you have to leave in order to appreciate it when you return. So fantastic. He is a writer that is going to be missed.

I just loved this. I think it's even better than the second one and it falls right in that Valente spot of explaining somehow your life beliefs while also telling a really good story and being moving and this is also funny and just oh terry pratchett. We miss you. This one pits Tiffany more against herself and her darkest side of herself and how that plays out is so interesting and true, and how granny Weatherwax is her mentor is so amazing and I love that Rob Anybody is back and we get to meet new characters, and there's so many parts of this book that will stick with me for a while like how we are made of the people who changed us and things don't matter people do and you have to make your own hat, and I listened to this on audio, but man I want to buy a copy because I know I will want to read this again.
She is barely 13 but feels like it's coming of age story of a witch.
Loved it, absolutely beautifully written!
"Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving."
" It's still magic even if you know how it's done."
