Another excellent entry in the Expanse series.
This one dealt with tribes and the "us vs. them" mentality.
More about the ancient beings that created the ring gates and the proto molecule, too.
Some new faces, and some old ones (mostly in the prologue/epilogue).
Not a cliffhanger, but clearly preparing for the sequels.
I'm honestly not sure how the authors do this--it's just as intriguing and involving to read this one as it was to read the first three. I don't normally like multi-POV books, but these are great. I really like all of the characters (or at least, I find them all believable--some are assholes of the highest order). I like how grounded in science the science-fiction is; I still like Holden despite having spent four books and countless hours with him.
Yes, I do have the sequel ([b:Nemesis Games|22886612|Nemesis Games (The Expanse, #5)|James S.A. Corey|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1654567652l/22886612._SY75_.jpg|42456264]) on hold from the library. I'm excited to listen to it when my hold comes through.

IDK what I was thinking with the review above. Doing a re-read brought out all of my feelings from before - it's kind of boring; limiting the story to one planet is, well, limiting; splitting the crew up removes the found family thing... I could go on but I won't. (The "frontier town" thing was also ... not my favorite.)
Suffice to say that I was bored as heck listening to this (yes even with ""everything"" going on) and I am planning to just skip directly to Nemesis Games after listening to half of this.

Do we really think Miller's gone? I would be very surprised if he doesn't come back ever...Some new faces, and some old ones (mostly in the prologue/epilogue).

Humanity finds all kinds of exciting ways to royally fuck up
And now, a thousand solar systems to explore!
So, let’s instead spend the entire book in one spot, with another two dimensional villain, and pointless subplot after pointless subplot.
Time for a break from this series.
