Didn't love this one tbh. But the characters are awesome so I'm still excited to keep going
These books don’t have quite as much to say as they seem to think they do, but they’re fun adventures in a cool setting. The characters/relationships are interesting for the most part, but having Elvi be infatuated with Holden for 1/3 of the book was very dumb and contrived. Anyway gonna listen to like 150 more hours of this series brb

The least enjoyable Expanse book so far. The crew of The Rocinante, Holden in particular, were insufferable. Lots of telling us Murtry was the bad guy, but until the last few chapters he was the only one with any actual sense. He kills exactly one person in the entire book, someone who had already killed multiple innocent people and was directly threatening to kill more, but because he was the designated bad guy we're told to hate him. Meanwhile Basia is the designated poor widdle Betler who actually kills a bunch of innocent people for funsies but then feels bad about it, so fuck those other people ever getting justice I guess.
The less said about the abysmal Elvi the better.
Two stars and not one because I actually really enjoyed the Havelock chapters. It was nice seeing the POV of a grunt, and his part towards the end was extremely funny.
All in all, a very, VERY, low point in the series.

uma queda de qualidade inacreditável, que ao menos eu confio que seja temporária porque eu já sei do que essa série é capaz. é um livro inchado e insosso, um tanto repetitivo, e onde a caracterização dos personagens aos poucos começa a parecer uma versão básica e sem personalidade. o epílogo ao menos dá uma esperança.

This one took me longer to get through than the earlier books in this series, but I still enjoyed it. This book definitely felt like a lot of set-up for future books in the series. Still, I enjoyed seeing the “us vs. them” dynamic play out on New Terra and the overall focus on human psychology/behavior.
