i thought i was gonna have a hard time reading this book but i really enjoyed it and think it's an important story, very authentic (as far as i can tell) and also fascinating to me, who has very little knowledge of any kind of religious stuff especially christianity 
it was at times hard to read because it covers heavy topics and uses slurs that are authentic to the time but still made me wince sometimes but i think that's a personal experience 
i also found it interesting how even though objectively ruth and rick and lydia seem like people you would hate for what they've done but they're described so human it makes it kinda hard sometimes 
great book would definitely recommend

This book is very important and I think it’s definitely one you should read! I really liked the characters especially Cam .However the pacing was a bit slow and the parts at Gods promise which was what I was most interested about felt quite rushed . But I still enjoyed this book and it brought up topics not spoken about the church enough.

This book was emotionally draining. It was intense but also moving in some places. I loved a lot of the side characters just as much as I loved Cameron. They made the book what it was!
