This book reminded me of many other books in this genre. A mother who believes her child is evil. A father that doesn't see it.

What is different about this one is the end. I was able to feel so sad for this Hanna even though I could see how mean she was. And I felt such despair for the parents. This book is only 300 or so pgs but at some points it felt very slow. However I would read a follow up on what happens with them. I was very invested in the characters in this story. 3.5 rounded up.

What a wild ride.
This story really isn't about some creepy kid being creepy for the sake of it, but it follows a mother and daughter who are both mentally ill.
A woman fighting with the guilt of no longer enjoying motherhood, while a girl tries to "save daddy" from her "evil witch" mother's love magic. Despite its "evil witch" mentioning, I don't see this as a horror at all. Yet, it was still a good read that left me speechless at every chapter.

Baby Teeth focuses on Hannah, a seven-year-old, and her parents. The plot focuses on Hannah's lack of communication and her axe to grind with her mother. Very Freudian. I wasn't sure if this book was meant to be a thriller, a horror novel, or something else. I thought seriously about abandoning this book, but I was expecting there to be a big reveal or twist that would explain things. However, that never happened. I know that psychological thrillers are very en vogue now, but this wasn't very psychological or thrilling. Overall, I wouldn't necessary recommend this.

"The Silence of Ikea"

Well, this was thoroughly unpleasant. But in a good way, where you slowly come to hate every character in the book and start to wish you were an old-timey French witch with insta-murder spells on auto-trigger.

Also, Gabra Zackman's narration haunts my nightmares.

Baby Teeth was a decent psychological thriller using the idea of a mother pitted against her own child. I have a few faults with it as it seemed the book switched back and forth between Hannah being psychotic or a supernatural element about the ghost seemingly controlling Hannah and manipulating her. I as well had issues towards the blatant oblivion schools, doctors and even the father alex had towards his daughter’s actions. The ending with Hannah’s apparent escape plan was indeed chilling and it was very well written. Overall a 6/10
