This book was so slow and so frustrating to listen to. The friends name is Sunflower and they wouldn’t not stop saying it repetitively. I could not get past chapter 3.

One of my book club reads. Honestly, I would have DNF’d way early if it wasn’t a book club book. It was compared to Stranger Things and Mona Awad (not a fan of Awad’s style, though I appreciate the writing is well done. But I love Stranger Things). But this book was bad all the way through. I read better prose in high school creative writing classes. I had near to no idea what was happening ever. Awful dialogue. The descriptions of things were trying very hard to be edgy and just made no sense. The characters were two dimensional and also trying too hard to be edgy. They all had ridiculous names. I didn’t care about any of them. I don’t think I can even describe the plot. A high school girl (who is not so secretly in love with her mediocre best friend) is at work at a drive in one night. Then a bunch of nonsensical crazy shit with monsters happens. BAD. Skip.
