AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH GIVE ME THE NEXT BOOK. NOW. i've read a lot of space-themed books (and i plan on reading 2 more series in the next month) but so far this has been my fave. all the intense scenes had my heart racing and it was so hard to put it down after reading on the bus. space horror is a new genre that i NEED to read more of, and i just borrowed erin bowman's taken trilogy from overdrive... AMAZING!

3.75 / 5
I wanted to tap out in the beginning of the book. Things picked up around the 60% mark. I think some of the ideas are interesting here, but not ground breaking.

WELL I didn’t realize this was supposed to be a series so frick that ending but honestly I enjoyed this fast paced sci-fi thriller more than I expected to! Thea is super bad ass and the world is fleshed out enough without being overwhelming

Such a fun, action packed sci-fi with twists and turns aplenty!

This was really good. It had me jump or gasp.

Space zombies!

I really wanted to like this book because I’m a huge fan of zombie literature. I thought this one would scratch the itch.

Unfortunately, I felt like this book just fell flat. I know that the characters are young (since it’s a YA book) but the decisions that they were making made me very frustrated the entire time—especially Dylan’s decisions. I felt like there wasn’t any motivation behind it other than a way to drive the plot forward. The characters weren’t super 3-dimensional and they felt like stereotypical caricatures of standard B-movie characters. I’ve also seen reviews that say this book is creepy and I would not agree. I didn’t get goosebumps or even an inkling of an eerie feeling throughout the novel. I suppose it would be eerie if I put myself into their shoes but I think Bowman tells you something is eerie rather than shows you.

I also had an issue with the plot twists. The plot twists weren’t very compelling. I felt like I was just waiting for something bigger to happen that never actually did.

Overall, it was a quick read but it didn’t capture my attention the way I wanted it to.

DNF
Sadly I cannot make it through this one. Book #3 that I have DNFd this year :(
It really just felt too forced and was trying too hard. I can see how some people may enjoy it but, compared to other books I've read, it has fallen fairly short of my expectations.
adventurous challenging dark tense fast-paced
