Some stories didn’t really make sense or felt unfinished.
I was a bit disappointed in this one, though I'm not sure what I wanted out of it, exactly. I'm obsessed with the show, but the show's pacing is much better, interlaced with plot, nuance, and emotionality. This has a series of cute, slice-of-Steven-Universe-life stories, but doesn't illuminate much about the characters. It more plays off what we already know about them. Also, without the context of the show, I would be completely lost. It's probably meant as a companion to fans who are already tuned in to the show, but that does worry me. I don't want people who stumble across the comic first to be turned off because it was confusing!
For pros, all of the art in this volume is amazing, and it's beautifully printed. I don't regret owning it, but I'm not sure what it adds to the, er, universe of Steven Universe. I will probably check out the next volume to see what I think.

3.5 Stars
I loved the art and the structure of this comic, with multiple types of comics within one bind up.
The stories within felt more like skits than anything else. It almost completely lacked the emotional power and storytelling of the show. I was disappointed with that.

For the adult fan of SU, this comic is only mildy going to give you any semblance of the nuances that you probably love the show for. That doesn't mean it isn't good, but that it isn't really for you. LOL
Kids are the true intended audience of the show, and the comic captures that perfectly. Short, funny stories aren't connected to one another, but are an entertaining read.

Read with the girl child. She told me to give it ALL THE STARS. LOL.
It's cute and a little fun thing to read between new episodes, but it's jarring between art style changes every few pages.
Not having cable or Hulu, I haven't been able to watch more than an episode here and there of Steven Universe. I was hoping the comics would relate the backstory a bit more, but clearly I was wrong. Unfortunately, I found the whole thing to be really disjointed - lots of short stories, yes, but I also found it hard to tell what was happening in the artwork at times, and the stories occasionally ended suddenly with no resolution at all. I know enough about the show to know the characters and their abilities, so that's not what was confusing me. *shrug* The artwork looks nice, as far as the depiction of the characters and the lovely colors.
