I had no idea what I was going into when I snagged this one from the library. I’ve seen a few reviews and I’m sure at some point I read the blurb, but by now we’ve stopped pretending that I’ll remember anything from one day to the next, right?

This is one of the best thrillers I’ve read in a long time. The story opened with Jen’s teenaged son murdering someone in cold blood on Halloween night. She goes to sleep that night after a harrowing evening in the police station and wakes up the next morning… only it’s yesterday, before the murder. The book unfolds backwards, with Jen waking up each day at some point in the past.

She hits various milestones along the way and learns that those closest to her are keeping dark secrets. She cannot control when she wakes up and finds herself feeling out of her mind, trying to figure out exactly why she is waking up in a particular time. As she searches desperately to find some meaning to her time travel, she encounters dangerous people and circumstances that she fears will forever change things - for the worse.

Time travel stories are especially mind-twisty for me - it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around them, and I always have more questions than answers by the time it’s over. I enjoyed this one very much, but I’m always left the nagging question of *how*?
Regardless, this was a plot-twisty joy ride for me.

This was a solid thriller! I wasn’t totally sure how I felt about it half to thee-quarters of the way through, but the ending tied up all the loose strings really nicely.
I also thought the last bit about hysterical strength was great, it resolves that last remaining question of how Jen got into the time loop in the first place.
I wouldn’t say this had me on the edge of my seat, but the story was good and while I figured out one of the big reveals before it happened, most of them I didn’t see coming.

As a mother, the time jumps were so interesting. My son is 4 and although I never want to be in this characters shoes, it was so interesting seeing her reflect on the changes in her son over the years at 16, 13, and 3. Although it isn’t the main point of the book I so related to her desperation to prove that what happened wasn’t her fault. Anyway, no notes. Just a really interesting and thrilling ride.

Loved it!

3.5 stars. I LOVED the premise of this but it definitely got slow and dragged on in a couple of parts. All in all, I’ll definitely read more from this author.

this book was better towards the end but just took a lot to power through. I just was a bit confused on certain parts and thought the story could’ve progressed better and/or faster. It was better towards the end but the epilogue wasn’t needed. I feel like the beginning had promise but it just felt like so much info sometimes.
