This book is SO HEAVY. But it is going to really make you think. Jodi Picoult is so great at writing these kinds of stories, she does not shy away from the hard topics and does a really good job at getting you to think.

Did I have a fun time reading this book? No. Would I recommend it? Yes, if you are in the space for it.

I was very invested in this book and found myself continuing to just read and read. I appreciated that Picoult didn't push the reader too much towards feeling one way or another. It felt quite balanced in just displaying everything that was happening and how all the characters felt. I think though because there wasn't one big takeaway it felt a touch hollow to me. The takeaway wouldn't have even needed to be something big like "guns are bad" or anything like that, but maybe just leaning more at the end into how there's always two sides to a story. I don't know. Maybe it was also just the ending felt a bit rushed to me. Overall though, it was pretty good.

INCREDIBLY thought provoking. Not a light read, but an important and unforgettable one. This will definitely leave a strong imprint on me and I’m grateful to have added insight from so many different perspectives.

I feverishly finished this book in bed, my pillow a puddle of tears.  The horrors of a school shooting were neither overshadowed nor underrated by the heart wrenching window into PTSD caused by extreme bullying.  There were no winners in this book and yet I fell I’m a better person having read it.
