Nothing like other books I have read by this author and initially I wasn’t sure if I was going to bother finishing it. There is a certain, annoying charm about the main character - Flappy. Someone like her in reality would be most annoying. She reminded me a lot of Mrs ‘Bouquet’ in Keeping up Appearances’ and that might have made Flappy more palatable. I don’t know if I would read any other books in which Flappy appears but this was light entertainment after reading a more serious book.

I've read a few books by Santa Montefiore and have always enjoyed how well thought out the characters are and that you care about what happens to them. Normally there's a plot with a few twists too....
This is not like those books - the characters are all flat, you don't care what happens to them anf beyond a very simple premise there's no real plot. I wanted to enjoy it but sadly this was way off for me

Flappy is an interesting character who takes the drama and heartbreak away from the more typical romance stories and instead brings a fun, characteristic atmosphere to a small town.

This story is short and sweet. We meet our main character Flappy who is generally a nice person, but wants everyone to know how nice she is. She has everything under control and she is The person who knows everyone and everyone knows. But then new people arrive in town who own the bigger house. Now Flappy does everything she can, or at least makes other people do everything she asks of them, to regain her place as the number one person in society. But she didn't think of falling for another man's charms would happen too.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was a nice break from the author's usual drama romance novels. I enjoyed reading about Flappy and the other characters in the town. I think this is a perfect feel-good entertaining book.

I recommend this book to people who enjoy light-hearted feel-good (romance) stories.

Flappy Entertains is the title of the book and Flappy most certainly does entertain, as does Santa Montefiore. If you have read The Temptation of Gracie by the same author, you’ll have met Flappy Scott-Booth already. I looked back at my review of that book and wasn’t surprised to see that Flappy had been mentioned. Flappy considers herself the most important person in Badley Compton. Not that she’d ever actually say that, she’s far too modest to boast. She likes to think that she knows everything about everyone and is involved in so many activities in the community. Her parties at her magnificent home, Darnley, are renowned. Everyone wants to be her friend and is secretly scared of earning her disapproval. So her nose is somewhat put out of joint with the arrival of Hedda and Charles Harvey Smith who move into a house even bigger than hers!

Flappy is such a brilliant character. She’s rather full of her own importance but in a rather endearing way. Think Penelope Keith in The Good Life and you have the idea. She’s so competitive and always likes to be the best and most important whether it’s hosting various events at her home for the community, choosing the most suitable books for her book group, sitting in the front row at Church or having the most tastefully decorated house. You’d think she would be insufferable but really she’s not as is evidenced by all her friends. Flappy is most certainly thought of fondly by the villagers.

One of the main plotlines in this book is Flappy discovering that there are passions within herself she didn’t know existed and they were so funny to read about. From her initial surprise, to her deciding that she would resist such passion, to her embracing her feelings, it was such an engaging and humorous journey to follow. If anyone ever mentions to you that they are taking up meditating, you may well have a little smile to yourself.

Flappy is a hoot and this is such a fun book to read. It’s just what is needed to take your mind off reality and some much needed escapism. Let Flappy entertain you!

Following the story of the well to-do Flappy of Bradley-Compton. This was a wonderful side step and preview into the sub characters of the Temptation of Gracie.

This book is both cheeky and charming with a heated romantic affair which I enjoyed. In this we see the emotional development and conflict of Flappy without losing the true essence of her character. I really enjoyed this witty little book and the nods to Gracie from its sister story.

The only reason I couldn’t give it a 5 stars is whilst the story felt well thought out I do wish there was a little more complexity to the tale particularly with some of the newer characters introduced.

It's nonsense, really. But it was enjoyable even so, and the nonsensical aspect made it easy to pick up for short interludes between the mania of a busy work week and the last gasp of the interminable summer holidays.
