This book series never fails to make me smile. I wish I lived in Budbury and worked at the comfort food cafe with Laura's cakes, Scrumy Joe's cider, Cherie bear hugs and Zoe's book corner!
Delightful. Fun, and sweet while still being meaningful and real. Love the cast of Budberry characters and their individual plot arcs that continue past their "own" stories.
While this was book number 3 in a series I read it as a standalone novel, with no knowledge of what came before. The lack of that frame of reference made no difference to my appreciation or enjoyment of the book. It was a very sweet, yet easy to digest read, and more than appropriate for the feel good festive season. It was a book that made me smile, and provided some much needed respite from my own family/relationship dramas. My second romance novel in a short period of time, I am beginning to think that books such as this are the tonic I need for my own muddled love life. This was a joy.
This book is not what I would normally consider to be a work of literary genius, and yet it greatly satisfied something within me. After three novels in this series, I feel personally invested in the lives of the characters and wish that I, too, could go to the Comfort Food Cafe! (So maybe it is a work of literary genius after all.)

Enjoyed an Aussie addition and getting to spend more time in this charming town.
Really felt the relationship between Martha and Zoe at the center of this book.

Where to start with this book. Ah. The roller coaster of emotions, the feel good, the everything. Insane to believe I nearly put this book down after 20 pages because I thought it might be too sad and my pathetic fragile state of mind couldn’t take it, but I’m so so glad I persevered with this story. It was so happy, uplifting, strong and with an undercurrent of community and friendship. 5 stars given in a heartbeat.
It was amazing to watch Martha and Zoe grow, heal and find their happiness and I absolutely adored this book. The little village of Budbury is somewhere I definitely want to go! I really loved this whole story and can’t wait to read more books from this author.
And the references to David Bowie, the legend was definitely something I was up for and the chapters names were pure genius. This book definitely deserves an extra star for that.
FYI I’ve reread this again and love it just as much and if not, even more! Love rereading this series.

I love this series. The writing is consistently good, the characters aren't perfect and no one wants to change them. The book are full of love and humor and contentment; the way life should be, but so often isn't.
