Perfection.

So happy to read Gemma's and Chases story. Love everything ally writes and you will not be disappointed if you buy this book. Definitely recommend reading the others first so it makes more sense especially with the coven.. wish I was part of it.

This book was so good. I enjoyed the The banter, push/pull between them, and the spice was good. It was alittle bit of an emotional rollercoaster as there were things they needed to work through from their past before they actually could really be together. Overall I enjoyed this book and I definitely recommend it. Check triggers 18+

Am I the only one who wants to know what the queen, Miss Alley, puts in her books to make them so addicting?? Because I am HOOKED! The BTU Alum/Covenette gang are back at it again and Gemma and (SWOON) Chance might be my favorite BTU couple yet. The angst has been building throughout the series and I love that moment when the hatred turns to lust turns to love! The noise that left me when he caught her when she fainted, I mean c'mon! Defensive Hearts has all of my favorite elements. The witty banter, phenomenal supporting cast, cute cuddley horse sized dogs, and the ANGST that only comes from a perfect enemies to lovers love story. Definitely a reread worthy book for me!

4.5 stars

Chance and Gemma are so dang good. I loved their banter. I loved her sarcasm. I loved the conversations between the Covenettes.

This book has so much going for it. From the humor, to the friendships, to the tension, I could not get enough. Of course the grumpy/sunshine trope played a large part of my enjoyment, as well as that enemies to lovers situation. Oh, then there's the possessiveness.

Alley Ciz wrote an incredible story. I laughed, I swooned, I wanted to smack both characters upside the head from time to time, and I cannot wait for more of this series.

Also, those great danes? Give them to me. Those dogs were scene stealers.

I feel I should start off by saying I read this as a standalone and NOT a part of the BTU alumni series. Although it’s explicitly stated that this book can be read as a standalone, I felt pretty confused by the 10 or so extra characters. I finished this book still unsure of those characters relationships to each other. The first 2 pages have about 6 different names and it was a bit overwhelming. I’m sure if you read the first 6 books you would probably have a better time keeping up. My other issue was how annoying Gemma & Chance were most of the time. In the beginning I felt that I would really have an issue with Gemma because she was written to be sassy and funny but none of that landed for me. It felt like it came off too strong just like Chance’s grumpiness. I ended up finishing it and it did get better but still not amazed by this book.

Could’ve been 4 stars but the groveling wasn’t enough imo! Chance fucked up and Gemma forgave him too easily.

This is book #7 in the BTU Alumni Series. This is a grumpy/sunshine hockey romance that has all the feels. Gemma and Chance have a love/hate relationship with so much sexual tension it just jumps off the pages. I love all their crazy antics. There is plenty of angst and push & Pull between these two as well as so much sass from Gemma. I absolutely love Chance. What a great read.

Booktok lied again

This was the first of the series I tried to read. DNF. Good concept, poorly written. Why were there so many other characters? Took away focus from the main couple. Their girl group was the cringiest thing I’ve ever read.
