Ok... this book was just so cute and fun and QUICK to read. I think I finished it in 2 short sittings. I’ve always been a fan of the movies (mostly just the first one) and was told that the books were extremely dissimilar to the movie. I was afraid reading the book would taint my love for the movie in some way but it complimented it very well regardless of the changes. The story was great and interesting and it felt just as much like a book adults will enjoy as kids will. That is why I would give the book 4 stars.
I give it the full 5 strictly because the audiobook was narrated by David Tennent and he did such an amazing job... audiobook recommended for this one :)))
I will definitely go through at least a few more in the series when I feel in the mood.

It was such a pleasant surprise when I played the audiobook and heard David Tennant’s voice. He is such a fantastic narrator and made the book even better than it is.

I knew beforehand that the movie and the books were different but wow, it’s literally completely different. I obviously watched the movie first and it’s one of my favorite films, but I actually didn’t mind that the book was essentially a different story. I think it’s amazing that both versions turned out so great.

Oh my gosh I have read this series over so many dang times. The world that Cressida creates is just unbelievably wonderful. Honestly, I cannot say how much I love these books. You just find yourself getting lost in the world and really feeling for the characters.

I remember starting this book for the first time. I was looking for something to read during breakfast before school and I found a box of my brother’s old books in my room at the time, one of them being the first book of this series. I took it downstairs and started to read. I instantly fell in love.

I am going to flat out say this series is as good, if not better, than Harry Potter- and that’s the truth. Cressida Cowell’s imagination is just so extraordinary and beautiful. She came up with these stories, which I think she should get a medal for. I have read each book MULTIPLE times and LOVE IT.

Even though the movies are very nice they CANNOT compare to the books. They are absolutely no where near as good. I don’t even think they should have the same names! For goodness sake, there is basically NO similarities! People who call themselves HTTYD fans need to also like the books to be able to call themselves that (in my not-so-humble opinion XD)

Sorry, I’m basically just ranting, but to finish: I would like to see Cressida Cowell be given a crown one day and make the book series a national treasure.

Thank you for reading my review, now stop wasting time and go read the books.

Reread II
