This was way more clever in the 90s than it is on a re-read 30 years on. One of those you had to be there books. I throroughly enjoyed it back then, ben it did not stand the test of time and on reflection nothing from it made any lasting impact.

this was amazing - you just need to know how to call these things or situations
though I did not like those gay related or girls-wh0res related because they were outrageous - that is the one star down

Quaint English town names given meaning by Douglas Adam. Not really what I was expecting but still entertaining. Not a book to reread though

This book reads like a dictionary (because that's what it is) so I can't really recommend it to anyone except the most hardcore Douglas Adams fan, who, like me, has already read absolutely everything else he's written and wants just a few more chuckles before resigning himself to the sad, sad fact that this man SHOULD still be alive, writing good things and doing even better things.

A dictionary for things that don't have classifications or words. This is the book I read when I get home from work and need to just lie down and read the most ridiculous but hilarious shit. Love Douglas Adams.

Grobister: One who continually and publicly rearranges the position of his genitals.

Ossining: Trying to see past the person sitting in front of you at the cinema.

Darvel: To hold out hope for a better invitation until the last possible moment.
