This book was okay. The HIV rep is really important and it was interesting to read about Brazil. It felt very After School Special to me, but I know I'm also not the target audience.

"The first step is admitting to yourself that, no matter the outcome, life goes on."

WHERE WE GO FROM HERE tackles a serious issue - prejudice against people living with HIV. As the book shows how prejudice seeps into the characters' lives, whether it is perpetuated by a potential love interest afraid of contracting HIV or a country restricting entry on the basis of HIV status, WHERE WE GO FROM HERE pushes us to examine how far we really are in the fight against HIV stigma and discrimination.

For a YA fiction novel, WHERE WE GO FROM HERE is highly informative. The book discusses PrEP, viral load, and CD4 levels. But the highlight of the book is (a) its portrayal of feelings of anguish and uncertainty experienced by people living with HIV; and (b) its overall message of hope, making it an important read.

An insightful and emotional view into the lives of HIV+ men in 21st century Brazil.

Everything in this books felt so real: the pain, the confusion, the happiness, all of it.
