Such an interesting story. This novel definitely made me think about what I truly want and desire in life because you never know when something can end — in this sense, the world. It made me look at life in a different way. This was a story that followed a family who just got news that one of their family members has a terminal illness and that they have approximately 3 months before the world is ending. It raised the question of, what do you do when you know your life has a time limit? Very thought provoking story.
I wasn’t absolutely enthralled with the story but I still enjoyed it. It felt very mundane which slowed the story down for me. I did enjoy the large cast of characters and the ending, yet tragic, was very beautiful.

I've managed to pick out another novel about dealing with the knowledge of imminent death. This time, the news comes from NASA and the scientific community that a double gamma ray burst in deep space will wipe out the earth's ozone layer and incinerate the planet, giving its inhabitants a little over two months to come to terms with this new reality... or perhaps live in denial. Although this sounds like a depressing read, it's not. The novel is quirky, humorous and full of hope and introspection, following a family in rural Saskatchewan as they navigate their familial and community relationships and discover it's never too late to realize what's important.
