Ava was hard to love at first, but I appreciated the growth she experienced throughout the book. I definitely didn’t expect the ending, but Ava’s evolving relationship with Mat was a necessary reminder of how betraying our protective instincts can lead to potentially lethal chaos.

this doesn't really become a thriller until over three-fourths of the way through—before then it's more contemporary relationship fiction. but i think it was necessary, for the most part, and actually really well done. even though i knew from the blurb and other reviews that the love interest was not to be trusted, i found myself won over by his charm just like our protagonist. and the thriller part was also very well executed. i enjoyed both aspects of the book.
as for its themes. the woes of corporate capitalism are played out in a nuanced subplot, but i wish it had a bigger role in the end, maybe somehow connecting back to Mat, like if he had beenone of the "Vandals" (but like in a way that makes sense). or maybe i just want to see a man be the root of all evil

IDK WHAT I WAS EXPECTING BUT IT WAS NOT THAT. I loved this book so much! Ava’s character was so complex and wonderful. The office humor was so good and I just loved how this portrayed grief and friendship in a millennial world

i never knew where this book was going i got the ick immediately when he called her LAMBY and MY LITTLE LAMB and then it got crazy but i didn’t like the way it ended i wanted A LITTLE more but i got what they were going for 3.7 overall
The last 100 pages were so much more interesting than the first 300. Almost quit reading as it got so dull In the middle. I would have enjoyed this more had the twist been hinted at much earlier and been a slow burn, rather than such a quick plot twist at the very end.
