This addictive, compelling and emotional read, had me intensely intrigued and inquisitive quickly, as I was introduced to Ava, and her quirky unique ways. An LGBTQIA+ read that took me on an incredible emotional rollercoaster.

The writing style is flawlessly paced and had me hooked from the very first chapters.

I was unable to predict the ending, although I am aware that some readers did. This book had me guessing until the end, and maintained a steady measure of anticipation throughout.

There are some issues that some people may find distressing, however, these are handled well by the author and prevents from being a heavy read, for my preferences.

If you are looking for an interesting and entertaining story, focusing on self-development and personal growth, this is the book for you! This would make an ideal book club read, as there is plenty to discuss throughout.

Thank you NetGalley and Verve Books for a gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I am honestly just confuzzled by this book. Ava does not grow in this book, which is of course hampered by Mat pretending to be her therapist. But she still goes back to him even after catching him in multiple lies and attending his weird cult group. Like the man lied about his dog, the shelter said the dog would be put down, and Ava just forgot about that till weeks later?? I feel like the authors strung the plot along after the lies started emerging to get to the big reveal and therefore made Ava into a character who was too willing to gloss over the astounding amount of red flags.
Did like that queer representation was seemlessly there, but also bisexuality, who?

Absolutely riveting. I'm sure some folks might wonder what kind of rivets, and what kind of stress-testing those rivets were subject to....

A book about an uptight engineer and a more-laid-back dude, learning some important lessons along the way, while gleefully smashing several of my most-disliked tropes.
