Oooh the twist! I need book 2 NOW!

I waited a long time to give this book a rating. Between the completely annoying main character, Gemma, and the absolutely awful narration of the audiobook...I can't bring myself to even say I enjoyed the story at all. Gemma was so grating and clueless, which made the majority of the book almost laughable. The young lady who read the audiobook was just dreadful...she made every character sound like a stupid teenager, especially the boys. I teach teenagers...not all girls sound clueless & ditzy and the young men most definitely sound like lumbering idiots.

Holy wow, absolutely loved this book and with an ending like that, it makes you want to throw your book across the room. Inception is a thrilling young adult book of fantasy, coming into yourself and who you're meant o be, family, friendship, love, and the worst...dark betrayal.

I have to admit, in the beginning of this book I cringed at some of the lines and thoughts said by our main character. It was a couple of "I'm going to cover my eyes in shame for you" moments. However, as I kept reading, this story got better and better and I became so engrossed that I couldn't put it down for a second.

I have to admit most of the these characters I enjoyed, even the ones I loved to hate. I admit I believe there's still a lot of secrets to uncover about many of our characters but hopefully they will unveil themselves in future books.

Throughout the whole story I kept trying to figure out why It was called Inception. I had a heck of a time putting it into place that is until the very end. Everything I thought was Inception was just tiny pieces leading up to the one biggest inceptions that had me reeling with angst.

Inception was everything I hoped for, and with a cliffhanger ending like that (and by that I mean the soul-crushing, dream-stomping, mouth hitting the floor, wtf moment) I cannot wait to read the next book in the series! If you're considering giving this one a chance, definitely do!

Couldn't put it down, fantastic writing. I can't wait to dig into the next one to see where Jemma is headed!

This is one of those books that you can read in between your high fantasy books. The story is about a girl who doesn't know about the supernatural world and suddenly she realizes that she is actually in the middle of this world without knowing.
The world itself is very fantastic for me but I really could not understand some of the relationships between characters, like for example Taylor and Jemma. How are these two best friends? Moreover, there are some unnecessary characters running around the story.
In overall, it is a fine book for some lower devotion reading.

Had high hopes for it, instead of throwing the book away like I should have, I just stacked it away for later hoping I would regain my interest. Until little by little I had to force myself to read it and I couldn’t finish it, it was so cringy , too fast, to fake, I dislike the fact she tells Dominic her whole life when she met his for what 5 minutes ?

And then trace is just a poor excuse of a man unable to control his crazy ex girlfriend. And then is always like, “I’m sorry blah blah blah

Don’t even get me started with Nikki

Gemma is annoying! Helpless, weak and who gets in her situations multiple times? Who lets anyone get that close multiple times? I think the author destroyed her character! I was so mad at her numerous times! Even when not thinking about certain situations. Just ugh infuriating. However I’m moving on to book 2 just to get loose ends tied!

The entire book is lead up to book two.
There's chapters of info dumping, which I basically skimmed.
Lots of characters were introduced but only three of them are memorable & I found myself flipping back to figure out who people were more than once.
Once again the lead character is underage and is - even for a short amount of time - in a relationship with a vampire. In this case he's 21 (or 26?) and not hundreds of years old, but still. Not my jam.
She's in high-school and going to classes, the dance, and working at a bar that she cant even serve alcohol at.
It is Twilight meets Buffy but worse than both.
She pines after multiple boys and the author is obsessed with eyes. (Every time she looks at a male character his eyes are described a different way)
Thus truly is a Wicker Basket meme book.
There's also lots of questionable phrases, like "He offered another smile—a delicious crooked grin that made the water pool inside my mouth—and then he walked away without saying another word, leaving me standing in a puddle of my own drool."
the second love interest can read minds. And he hears her gushing about how perfect and handsome and beautiful he is frequently.
the secondhand embarrassment is real bad for lots of their interactions.

At first I was really into this book, thinking I found a new paranormal series. But as the book went on, it just dragged and got boring. It wasn't until the last chapter that I started to get into it again. Not sure if I will continue with the series.
