From the author of The Road Back to You, The Story of You is supposed to help you identify the (unhelpful) story you tell yourself, so that you can rewrite it, overcome self-defeating patterns, and become your true self.

Honestly, I feel like the author is just riding the enneagram popularity wave. For me, this book added very little value to his previous work and was entirely centered around aligning your new story so it fits inside the larger, redemptive Story of God. This book was clearly written for believers who have a very basic understanding of both the enneagram and biblical grace and want to scratch the surface of story transformation.

Learning origin stories for each type increased my Enneagram knowledge. It's helpful to have some idea of what and where others are operating from, especially those that haven't done any work. It strengthens my compassion for others and puts more tools in my bag.

Listening to this book played a big role in helping me realize I was mistyped as a 2 and I'm actually a 9. It also helped me understand other enneagrams of the people I love, which is just as equal, if not more so, the goal. It's definitely a book I can refer to again and again, but I just wish it went farther for each enneagram with longer, more in-depth chapters. It felt too quick and fast, which is a great intro/starting point, but I was hoping for a bit more.

Good information but it is quite religious throughout. I felt that was unnecessary for the content though I’m sure it brings comfort to those who believe.

Everyone should read this book. This was especially poignant for me as my Spiritual Director and I have just begun digging into story work for me as a 9. A must read book and a resource you’ll keep on your bookshelf to refer to again and again.

This book is okay, nothing wrong with it. But not much new either.

This is a great enneagram book for anyone who has already found their type. I like how the author uses the theme of story throughout.

I received and ARC from NetGalley.
