This is the fourth Kingfisher book I've read. I find most of her books are slow to start but the story always picks up. Unfortunately, this book was slow all throughout and a slog to get through. I skimmed the last 40 pages.

This was such a solid fairy tale with incredibly lovable characters. I fell in love with Bonedog and I wish there was a sequel or even a little novella to say what happens next.

A princess, a witch, a fairy godmother, and a knight… this book takes elements of a classic fairytale and flips it on its head to create this gothic fantasy that was equal parts fun and bone-chilling.
I’m a big fan of Kingfisher’s fantasy books, and while this wasn’t my favorite of hers, it is still full of her signature wit and humor that I enjoy so much. The FMC was probably my least favorite character of the story (she seemed quite flat to me), the rest of the characters kept me locked in.
