I felt like this was a really fun and original premise with all the things that made the other books cute and wholesome. Watching the brothers interact is still one of my favorite things. But I also love how Holden lets her be independent while still supporting her.

While it was a fun, one-time read, it left a lot to be desired. For one, and maybe this is more a pet peeve than anything, but why are we calling the mmc's underwear "shorts?!" And in that same vain, some of the word choices in the spicy scenes... smh. "Behind" for butt? "Plush" for something hard? Are these not adults?! Call it what it is. (I'm not here because I'm not sure the guidelines on here for that.)

But also, some stuff just didn't make sense. Why all the secrecy? Why make a big deal of the Army presentation/talk at Evans school when we weren't even going to see it? Why with the one prof with the seemingly out of the blue vendetta? How long was she in the army? What did she do? Why was she so against fighting? So many questions and plot holes... too few answers.

I liked the idea of this book, but I feel it could have been executed better.

This book was on par with the others I. The series. A good, quick read.

I will say, I didn’t like the reason for the breakup. Sure, Holden had every right to be a little suspicious when it came out that she knew who he was the whole time, but it felt very out of character for Holden to be outright cruel to her in that moment. Sure he boxed at a shady club, but he never struck me as an asshole. Angry about things in his life, yes. But not mean.
