The Paul thing is in the top 10 most irrelevant storylines ever. We didn’t need him or the miscommunication trope. I would’ve enjoyed it more to have Jack’s POV too, if anything it would’ve balanced out having to read Curt’s insecurities over and over. It was a quick read but it wasn’t anything special.

Gostei dos temas, de como foram explorados. As cenas picantes também conseguiram dar parte do seu propósito. Gostava só de ter sentido mais alguma profundidade em certos momentos.

3.5 Stars ~ As I've worked my way through Lane Hayes's 'Better Than' series, I've noticed my overall enjoyment of each book has grown exponentially. When faced with reading 'Better Than Friends' I was excited to see how much more I was going to love this installment. The first thing I adored was how the author picked the story up right from the end of the previous book at Jay and Peter's wedding. If you've read the other books in the series (which, really, you must), you'll remember that Curt was Matt's roommate and Jack is Peter's ex. So, the fact that Curt and Jack meet at Jay and Peter's wedding just had my inner romantic squealing and jumping up and down like a thirteen-year-old girl. *grins*
It didn't take me very long to get a picture in my head of Curt. He views himself as average, not very exciting, plain, nothing that really stands out. Curt sees himself as someone who doesn't make waves, and certainly isn't an energetic and amazing person to be with. When he spies Jack at the wedding he imagines him as some gorgeous pirate with tattoos. Jack exudes self confidence and has this energy about himself that is magnetic. It's no surprise that when Jack shows an interest in getting to know Curt, he totally doesn't believe him. I mean, Curt is a lawyer who specializes in eminent domain and property acquisition, and Jack owns a gay leather daddy club and a motorcycle shop. As Curt says, "Motorcycles and leather bars. Um… Okay, I was right. I was out of my depth, as in a twenty-five-foot tidal wave out of my depth. I didn't even know what kind of questions one asked about those subjects."

Thoughts while reading:
-Curt gets a little tiring constantly putting himself down, especially when Jack keeps showing him interest
-he already said he knew Paul wouldn’t be the one, so why, when Paul went away and he was semi-dating Jack, did he agree to see him, even if, as he said, you never know what will happen in 3 months, he knows now he’s not into Paul, so seems wrong to lead him on. And what happened on their last date, did they kiss more?
-I’m not sure why Paul kisses him when Curt says he’s with someone else

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, but I listened to it on audiobook, with a fabulous narrator, so I wasn't sure how much of my enjoyment was because of the content vs. the voice.
I checked this one out from the library, and I really, really enjoyed it. The writing was not always the best, but I liked the characters so much, that I wasn't bothered by it. Jack was gorgeously described, and I am a huge fan of age differences, so I really just loved the dynamic. Fun, and easy, and super sexy, I definitely had a fun time with this on. Planning on reading more in this series when I have a chance.

I am a little disappointed by this book - don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but sadly not as much as the previous ones.
I feel like in every book of this series (this far) there was one character who was quirky, very out-and-proud, which knew what he wanted in the relationship. On the otherhand was the slightly-confused, brooding, "suuuuper hot and beautiful - why would he ever want me" kind of guy.
And when it's the third time, it's just not as fun anymore.

**THIRD READ : still really good !**
** SECOND READ : 01/05/2017**
I love this book! One of my absolute favorites! I love the dynamic between the characters and how the relationship feels so real.
Okay, I don't really understand the "casual hookups" without immediately wanting more but I'm not reference on the matter ^^.
I can't wait to read it a third, fourth, fifth ... time! #comfortread
