I'm going to be honest right now...the only reason I picked this up if because it was part of the yearly challenge and it from a Canadian author. I went in relatively blind hoping that it was going to be a diamond, but unfortunately, I just didn’t vibe with it the way I’d hoped. I think the story had potential, but I found it to be quite slow paced which made it difficult for me to stay engaged. I did find myself zoning out more often than I would have liked.
For now, I think I'm going to be shelving the series, though I may come back to it eventually (that TBR is just really calling to me to check out other things) It wasn't bad, I didn't not like it, I'm just kind of indifferent. Maybe closer to a 2.5 star, but honestly I just don't have a lot to even say about it.

I really needed this reread because I didn't remember anything. I loved this book! It's fast paced, the characters are so interesting, important subjects are treated. I loved the romance and the cliffhanger at the end. Excited to read the sequel.
I just don't get why Goodreads put this book into YA Fantasy because it's not.

Love that the fl is the one with the cringy fae past, reminds me of Rowan from TOG, honestly I don’t like the ML but I’m trusting the next books to prove me wrong. The romance aspect sucks but the story is pretty good
