Best book I have read in a while. Adding to my favorites shelf.
It had everything I loved about fantasy in it: badass heroine; beautiful imagery/world-building, and an intriguing (but not overwhelming) romantic storyline.

DID NOT FINISH: 34%

Did not capture me, I wanted escapism fantasy and this had too many parallels to reality as well as a lot more triggers than I was expecting

What a good book! I was worried I wouldn't like it but the world building was gorgeous and the storytelling was clear and interesting. I'm so excited to read the next one! Fans of Throne of Glass, don't sleep on this!

Most of the first hour and a half was info dumping and yet it was such generic and unoriginal world-building.

This book doesn’t have much LGBTQ+ content, only a few brief mentions.
The plot doesn’t fully feel justified, I think there were more options that weren’t explored and decisions that were confusing.

But if you want a book about assassins, elves, fae, rebellion, spies, fighting, and slow-burn romance this book is for you.

This was fine. It had a fairly intriguing premise, then a dip in the middle where i nearly dnfed and then a good enough ending. Heavily inspired by ToG and LOTR from the looks of things. I've ordered the second one, hoping it builds on what I enjoyed and leaves behind what I didn't.

very trophy and i couldn’t find myself connecting to any of the characters. i didn’t have an awful time but it was just nothing i havent read before unfortunately. i might continue the series but it’s incredibly low on my priority list.
