Gorgeous romance with a trans main character

Forever is a gorgeous romance and a take on both "2 people not looking for a relationship get pregnant and fall in love" and "closeted gay guy falls in love and comes out". But with a twist, Jake, the guy closeted actor Tristan falls in love with after they agree to being friends-with-benefits, is trans and working towards becoming a single dad.

This is a beautifully written book with the kind of representation that is rarely seen.

Another lovely romance in this series that centers trans characters.

Content warnings include: transphobia and homophobia (rather subtle as far as these things go, but challenged on page), character gets outed against their will, pregnancy (not entirely unplanned but kinda), sex on-page featuring mild D/s, character gets fired because of pregnancy, mentions of unsupportive parents.

This one was by far the most uplifting and lightest of the series. The main topics Forever deals with are Jake's plan to have a child becoming reality a lot sooner than planned, and Tristan realizing he's not entirely happy with how he's closeted due to his career.

I liked that both Tristan and Jake were ready to admit their feelings for each other and get serious rather quickly (at least compared to the rest of the series.) The frequent reappearances of the characters from [b:Flaunt|33844763|Flaunt (The F-Word, #1)|E. There was a slightly unfinished touch to the book in my opinion - I felt like there was more to explore when I closed it, even though I was quite happy with the ending.
Overall it is a very lovely read.

Ed has a talent for not only entertaining me and giving me some of the sweetest romance but educating me as well. He always peels back the layers to a POV I can't fathom and teaches me something new and Important. We have to see the world from someone else's eyes if we are ever to change it. We have to see where they are coming from before we can even hope to understand a struggle that is not our own. I thank Ed for doing this in small ways every time I pick up his books. It's a gift to be able to fall into a book and escape, it's an even greater accomplishment if you can enrich your readers lives by giving them a new way to see the world and to learn. So thank you Ed for always entertaining me but also guiding me to a new perspective. The F-Word series is a beautiful and great read!

Another case of a book group influencing my reading.

I haven’t read many books where one of the main characters is transgender, just because I haven’t come across many. So when this one was recommended, I read the blurb and decided the story sounded great.

And it was. Jake meets Tristan at a time in his life where he’s thinking about what he wants for his future. What he really wants is to be a dad. He is trans but does still have the inner workings to carry a child. Jake knows the risks and the consequences and is confident in his decision.

I thought the relationship was beautifully portrayed. The subject matter was dealt with sensitively. Love is the winner.

tw for pregnancy, transphobia/homophobia, sex scenes

This was SO GOOD! I loved the characters and how positive the trans rep was - we definitely need more positive representation for trans men (especially trans men who give birth/are parents)! The book made so many good points and had a lot of relatable moments as well (see my highlights!) which I loved. I rarely highlight this many things in a book.

I also loved the relationship between Jake and Tristan, it was so cute! I’m excited to read the rest of the ‘F-word’ series as well!

I admit that I absolutely adore every single thing that E. Davies writes. The F-Word series is fabulous at bringing transgender and non-binary characters to the forefront, and the stories are so lovely. There is not a huge amount of angst with the MC's being apart, but they definitely have some challenges to work through and overcome.

Jake is a transgender man who has not yet had a hysterectomy, and he decides that he wants to have a child before he completes his transition. He meets Tristan and there is attraction between them. Tristan is a closeted actor, so it starts out just being a fling and friends with benefits, but Jake getting pregnant keeps them connected and growing closer every day. Their relationship was beautiful, and I loved watching them come together and find love and family.
